i was just wondering what the general opinion is. this my first so don't really know what to look out for. iv read that now would be a good time to switch to maybe 10 hours of light and 14 dark. also that it may only be 3-4 weeks before harvest!? anyway let me know what you think. rep for all and all that.

No . 12/12 wont slow you down any. Stick to the basics. My advice, WHEN YOUR 100% SURE THEIR READY, SMELLING AND LOOKING BOMB. THAT MEANS THEY HAVE ANOTHER 1-2 WEEKS. Dont be impatient

geez, some size of bud's there. iv been reading that the longer you flower the bigger but not necessarily "better" your buds will be. almost all the weed iv ever bought has been grown this way and i quite like the idea of a sort of "delicacy" weed with high thc content. iv also just noticed that 6 weeks lands almost exactly on Christmas day! imagine that for a Christmas present! your own weed to unwrap, then re-wrap and wait for 2 weeks while it dry's haha.

I say you need to get a pocket microscope or at least 45x magnification loupe. to see the trichomes. once half of the trics on the buds turn amber. cut her down

well i was asking if they will be ready to harvest that early. and i got that answer. i really didn't know if there would be anything at all in 6 weeks. like i said its my first time and i have no idea whats next. im not doing this to make money or anything, its all for me. so bud size/weight really aint an issue. i just want to try weed grown a different way. i guess in 6 weeks we'll see what its like and i may keep it going for another week or 2. :)

What strain are you growing?

If you can't get something better and if you have a Radio Shack nearby or if you will purchase online, get one of these. They aren't the best but they are more than just good enough. Then keep an eye on the trichome color and harvest when the trichome color will give you the type of high or stone you enjoy the best.

you can see that with your eyes, anyway u want a high look for 25% brown - u want heavy stone 80 - 90% brown. mag glass needed only to see how milky trics are;)

so bud size/weight really aint an issue.
Is quality and potency an issue to you?

i just want to try weed grown a different way.
Harvesting far too early will not give you much of an accurate impression of what weed that is grown in a different way is actually like, other than what weed that is grown and harvested improperly is like.

i guess in 6 weeks we'll see what its like and i may keep it going for another week or 2.
If you have any desire for quality don't set time limits as to when you will harvest. Harvest when your plants tell you they are 'ripe' and ready to be harvested. Then be sure to give your crop a long slow dry and a long curing process otherwise it will taste terrible and it will not be very potent. A good bit of THC is in a non-psychoactive form when plants are harvested and it takes time for the non-psychoactive THC to become fully psychoactive and there is no way to speed that transformation up. Time and proper drying and curing alone will do the job.

Don't be in a hurry ... remember ... Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was Syracuse.

Bud size does not dictate quality and it certainly does not dictate if you will get a clear soaring head high or if you will get a couch-lock body stone.

High THC content is a key part of quality and to have that you need to let your plants ripen, you need to let them mature. Even high THC content alone does not guarantee quality.

It takes the proper mix/blend of various, or all, cannabinoids in the trichome heads for true quality and true potency and that is manily dependent on genetics and then on the conditions the plants were grown in and it of course also depends on plant maturity when harvested and then it depends on a properly performed slow dry in proper conditions and a properly done slow cure.
