So my buddy grew a plant outside and what do you know it grew pretty well given the conditions . As for the location we had to move it inside and put it under 8 cfl lights and set it to flower and it turned out to be a girl! What luck! Anyways were not sure the exact date its been in flower for or how many days im gonna say roughly 3 weeks. The hairs on top are starting to turn an amberish color and it definately smells good and skunky. Since my first grow of my plnats all turne dout to be males or hermies we are excited to harvest this momma. What do I need to know and/or do for preparation. Ive heard of flushing but no nutes were even used in this grow at all. So is flushing even neccessary? How much longer do you think they need to go before harvest and how do they look in general? any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!:leaf:

You want to wait till 70-80% of the hairs are red/orange. Or get a microscope of 50x, and check the gland heads for a milky color to them, when 50% are milky, and 50% with an amber hue. As far as flushing goes...you planted her in soil...aka made up of organics...organics are nutrients. So start flushing 2 weeks prior to harvest, the last flush should occur a few hours prior to the lights shutting off (since you moved her indoors) then harvest her after 12 hours of darkness...DO NOT let the lights come on, or have any lights on prior to cutting her stalk. You can hook green x-mas lights up so you can see because the plant can't process the green light spectrum so it doesn't cause the nutrients to come back up from the root system.

Molasses is OK, but a trick I was taught is 1-2 tsp. of Sucanat per gallon of water, mix in hot water prior to adding to resevior, or the water thats going to your plant. Sucanat is a natural dark raw sugar with a molasses like concictancy. It has more minerals, and vitamins to help aid growth. The sucanat will add a wonderful complex hint of carmel to the aroma, and flavor of most strains, while some strains will take the carmel taste, and aroma to a very high level to the point when breaking open the dried buds will smell like caramel.:weed: It will also provide the extra sugars to bulk up your buds.

Oh ya not to forget but you can get Sucanat from any of your local Natural Food Stores.

Molasses serves a host of purposes. It has the tendency to fatten up your buds. It has a tendency to form more visible thc crystals. It provides your medium of growth with microbials. It is a mild natural fungicide. Hydrostores are the foremost place to get horticulture grade molasses which would already be unsulpherated. If you do not have access to a hydro store then I have friends that have used Grandma's Syrup with acceptable success. It is very difficult to determine the harvest window with the naked eye. I would highly recommend the purchase of a handheld microscope which are inexpensive. I purchased one from radio shack for under $ 15 which ups the magnification 60-100 times.

Do you use Sucanat to flush also?

We have used 1 tsp. of Sucanat per gallon of water during the flush as well. No problems because its not enough of a dose to reverse the effects your trying for with the flush, while it gives the plant an energy boost to finish its biological lifespan to its fullest. Also Sucanat is benificial for microorganisms in the water which are in turn benificial for the roots of our beloved ladies. Can't go wrong considering it dissolves easily in water, benificial to microorganisms, helps THC, and bulking buds, adds complexity to taste/aroma of buds, and all for $3/pound.
