How Much Lighting Could I Use Minimum?

Well I ordered some seeds yesterday, and I just started wondering, would 84w be enough to flower one very small plant? I might go 12/12 from seed or let it veg a little bit, but my veg lights are only 46w of 6500k, and I don't know if that's enough. But anyways, my setup is 2x 42w 2700k for flowering, and 2x 23w 6500k for vegging. Keep in mind my setup is very small and stealth, which is why I think less lighting will be required.

Look in to some of the lower wattage LED's out there, I use Growl LED, its not cheep but you get a great stealth setup this way and great results.

Yeah I could look into that, although right now it won't fit he budget because of how expensive they are.

ThAt wattage will grow one plant just fine. Yopu may yield around 20 grams if the plant is properly taken care of. Go for it, it aint gonna hurt a thing and you will learn enough to make you wanna go bigger :D

Finally an enthusiastic response. Thanks for the advice, maybe next plant I'll have an LED light. Could anyone recommend a cheap light powerful enough to grow one plant? In my research earlier, I found some light called the growspot, and it's a 15w spotlight for $100. Is that enough for one plant? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d.html/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/177-4396100-3466054?a=B001Q1MT74

Get 2 42 watt for veg, and 4 42 watt for flower. 3 of them should be 6500K and 3 of them 2700k. You can mix and match how you wish with CFL's. I like a 50/50 mix of spectrum myself

The 42 watt CFL's are about $10 a piece. 3 would be enough for 1 plant if your on a budget.
Tonight I added one more socket to the fixture, giving me the ability to use 3 23w 6500k bulbs. Would 69w be sufficient for vegging and 126w 2700k for flowering? I mean the space is pretty small, I honestly think 126w is a nice amount.

Hello there! i have got a similar setup i am using CFL 2x45W:6400K:Daylight for one plant. Last evening i transplanted in a clay pot (about 12-15 litres size) and going 24. My cabbie size is about W22"xD22"xH36" its a refridgerator carton(pretty sturdy but still very cheap of me i know - will be ordering a proper plyed cabbie once i know what i need excatly), i covered the inside with plain print paper double layered it for reflection (read it somewhere it works). Since it's winter i have not ventilated it (i know i will have to soon) it gets pretty warm in there so i do keep checking and flipping the top open like one hundred times a day just to make sure my plant isn't burnt or the carton. the lights are about an inch from the leaf everything's fine so far. But as far as i have read the Watts aren't enuf, more watts = better and faster growth + better yield. just thought i'd drop in a word or few. I am pretty sure with the extra watts it would have better growth... add some molasse i hear its really good yummm... for your plant...i am going to add some extra watts for my babe... happy growing and a great harvest. Will keep an eye on how you are doing... post some pics, people are very helpful here and they really help you no matter what and how you do it. I am just a rookie :)

i forgot: think you should go 24 atleast for the first 2weeks or so or when your plant reaches about 8-10inches and you could LST for a better yield from one plant. Risk of one plant is you wouldn't know if its a male or a female untill flowering. It would be nicer if you had an extra plant beside. :)

that should do fine. you can add all the lights together for veg and flower and you will be better off

Get a security light from lowes. 40 bucks will give you 70 watts of metal halide goodness!
that is actually a good suggestion metrognome!!! but be cautious of heat, they are all self contained and get hot. he said that the grow space was a small one. if you have the technical capabilities to remove the ballast and keep it remote of the grow area this may work better. there are a few electrician threads where they can help you make your ballast remote of the light if metrognomes idea interests you.
