Yield varies by strain and process, but with our strains and process, you would need about five times as much cured material by weight as you wanted wax.

So in other words like 5 oz for one oz?
It all depends top notch bud gets around a 20 percent yield but I'd rather do like trim and shake and pop corn bud first start with 100. Grams and see what your percentages are I'm usually getting like 7 or 8 from low grade shake I know I could do better around 10 or 11 but I'm experimenting with new material and learning ill get there. just try and see what you get mabey just do 10 grams to start of fire and see if you can yield 20 percent that would be 2 grams for ya. Or do lower grade and shoot for close to 10 percent (a gram off 10).

The smallest amt. would have to do with your column (tube). A stainless turkey baster from Bed, Bath, and Beyond for about $8. It will hold 4-8 grams and use 1/2 can of butane. You will get 1/2g - 1 1/2g depending on material and technique.

I have a glass tube that fits an Oz of buds, I usually get somewhere from 2-4 grams. I found that when materials other than Buds grinded up are being used, your most likely going to end up with a Green Product(NOT ALWAYS TRUE). Ive also learned that using 2 coffee filters instead of 1 will make a big diffrence in the quality, I have not gone back to using 1 filter since. I also only ran 7x refined butane. Also, when you purge, use warm to hot water just make sure yu can put your hand in the water with out it burning yourself, that way you know forsure you are not burning out any THC etc. The point to the hot water is to evaporate any butane that still resides in your product, Replace water with hot once it cools to room temps, repeat that. Patience will help, whip continuously if you want a wax texture, the longer you purge you end up with Glass Texture(I LIKE THIS, BUT IT SHATTERS EASILY AND LITTLE PIECES GO FLYING WHEN YOUR TRYING TO GET A DAB).

As has been noted, trim has less return than bud, and we typically yield about half as much from trim, so it will take about twice as much, or 10 grams/gram.

Yeah I agree with Guzias I took his advice and went from one or 2 filters and did 6 seemed like my tube built up more pressure and I got more yield

lolll. sweeeeeet. i just did a run with fucken grounded up material.... ( got gifted good trim, and this grounded shit from decent farmer)

i think i did a run of ground up material a couple times about half a year ago.. probably used about 4 filters total... ...

worst return, and output bho of my lifeeeee....

i have once again been gifted with grounded material !! soo, i took a look at it, and it actually looked like it had a good amount of crystals.. .. so i decided to blow it..

well.. i used 6 filters (folded 4 times).. giving me actually 24 filters total.. ! :]

me return has been rather huge... i used 3 tubes.. my tube usually holds a little over 2 oz in trim.. i think i squeeeezed about 3 oz of this ground stuff per tube...used 2 cans a tube..

soo...

approx 9 oz in..
6 cans of tane..
trying things out a little different on this run with the heat and no muffin.. and ya...
but, i weighed in @ 44 grams..

9oz to 46 grams.. to get taffy at the least would make me ecstatic about this run..

that what? like a %19 yield? and like wayyy easy.. there was still lots of gold goo dripping out of my tubes as well, could have shot an extra can for a little more....

we shall see how this turns out! but, its the biggest run ive had in a minute.. im stoked!

SO, right now im going to go with my original theory.. as long as you start off with good material. you will get good yields.. ground, or not.. its just how much surface area you are able to hit with the tane..

so! on another note....

my suggestions for blowing:

lean away from using really old trim.. or if it is old, it better have been stored properly..

grind up material if you are using parts of the plant not so full of the good stuff ( stems, fan leaves, big shit)

if using anything else, break down to a very small chunk.. you know that chilli the pizza places offer on the side, and you can shake it out of the big salt like dispensers?? you want you material to be about that size, or as close to it as you can get..

this is how you can stretch the most out of your returns..

hey.. those of you who are curious on how to make this awesome oil and wax stuff... check it..

a 45 minute vid on how to make wax seems a bit long

also am i the only one who lets my oils sit out for a few days before putting them in the vac chamber? i dont like standing around watching it to make sure the muffin doesnt get to big and its hard to put my chamber in hot water if i am opening it up all the time to let the muffin collapse. i see ur temps on the vid have u tried pushing it to higher temps like 200+? i get hard amber color the consistency of a jolly rancher every time with this method

i didnt try and edit the video.. and i tried to cover everything.. you see a lot of missed information out there.. i put in every step.. sooooo, for those who really dont know how to make it.. i think they will get lots of good info out of it.. now you and i dont want to watch something like that.. weee would rather watch a new tip or trick..

ya.. i dont like waiting for my oil to sit out that long.. i blast, and would rather start vacuuming within the hour after blasting..

and the highest temp i have ever reached was with this last run.. i ended at 147-149F .. i achieved the consistency i was going for.. took me bout 40 hrs total.. but it was also a test run..

you should get a better chamber :] invest about $160US into a decent one, you will be happy my friend..
