how many plants could i grow with a 400 w hps

as many plants as you can fit into a 4'x4' area without overcrowding. wattage ratings dont really tell you how many plants you can grow, but how much area the light will efficiently cover. some people will put 1-2 plants under a 400w some will put 10-20 under the same light. it all depends on your growing style. rule of thumb is that 400w HID is good for a 4'x4' area, 600w for a 5'x5' and 1000w for 6'x6' area. hope this helps
