hello all, Im finally building my indoor setup.

The dimensions are 4x3.5x6.5. 4 feet wide and 3.5 deep.

Im purchasing a yield master 600w hortilux sunsystem light.

my question is...

should i use 5g pots and grow monsters??

or should i use 2g pots and grow more plants?

Im not too sure how many plants i could fit in about 12sq ft area any ideas?

i wanna get the most yield as i can without overcrowding

Thanks all :leaf:

so...possibly fit 6 2 gallon pots in there?

and hope to get them all to 3 feet?

I just dont know how wide the plants will get.

I plan on growing all Indica maybe a few hybrid.

if i did 6 plants they would have 19" deep and 18" wide.

So that 18"x19" per plant.

is that any good?

search google for a hightimes article called "large yeild in small spaces". guy puts 25 under some stairs and yeilds huge...about the same size space as you.

O jeez! I knew I under did it by put 25 under 2 600s and 1 1000. I gotta start a thread with pics to have people tell me how many to do.

I actually have a similar question. Except my space is 4'X2'X5' and I am using a air cooled 400w hps. How many plants should I put in there to maximize efficiency.
Sorry for jumping in on this thread, I thought making a thread for the same question would be a waste.

well i was thinking about doing either...

(3) 5 gallon pots and growing them to 4 ft. so idk, veg to like 24-28inches.

or do (6) 2 gallon pots and growing them like 2 1/2 feet so vegging til like 16inches.

Im sure a SOG with smaller pots will yield quicker..

but im tempted to do giant pots, a few different indica strains and top and LST and turn em into monsters.

itll be my first (indoor) grow.

what to do..? what to do...?

so hard to decide

well your ceiling is 6.5 ft tall correct? well add 12-18 inchs for the spacing between the light and the plant tops, then add the bucket size say 15 inches tall (5 gallon bucket), then add the height of the light hood and what ever space you have above the light for hangers/claeners/ducting and etc. , are you using a hydro system or soil in a bucket, if your using a system then add that size of the system? then add all them up and subtract from the overall height and that should give you a idea to the max hieght you can grow your plants after flowering.

well from ground to ceiling i have about 7.5ft. so take away pots(with soil), reflector, and light spacing..they could grow about 4 feet tall each.

What is a better idea? throwing (3) 5 gallon buckets and shooting for 4 footers?

or should i buy (6) 2-3 gallon pots and shoot for more smaller plants?

if i have 3 plants they each are given 31"x38" of space to grow.

if i have 6 plants that are smaller they would have "31x19".

I just dont know how much space (WIDTH WISE) im going to need...

any help on this question would be awesome

12"x12" is good for short plants in SOG... use five gallon buckets and see how many you can cram side by side under the light. the size of the buckets is all the space short plants(veg to 12") need.

scrog, ebb n flow as many as you can fit....when you get bigger plants the light dont penetrate all the way to the bottom....

i personally thing scrog, ebb n flow is the most efficient way to grow.!!

x2. If you dont mind watering more often, I would do 12 3 gallon pots in a scrog type setup. And only veg them to 12 inches or so. you should get a nice canopy.

I just experimented with bigger plants (5 foot blue dreams) and decreased my yield per plant because of lack of light down low on the plants. My grow area is 2x6 by 8 tall. This time around I am doing 12 plants in 3 gallon pots under 2 400's rather than the 1000 I had previously.

gooood thinking.

ya I have (1) 3 gallon pot right now, and i will purchase (5) more.

I'll do 6 plants giving each one about 20"x18" to grow. should be plenty.

Is the gallon to foot rule true? can i expect 3 footers outta 3 gallons?

Also, bump on scrog. is it difficult at all? like i said this will be my first indoor and was going to christmas tree canopy them but i could see how lower flowers would suffer compared to top.

Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid on an indoor? or indoor scrog?

I, contrary to popular opinion , have researched that natural cycles , if doing the maths on yeild and time, will yeild less than sog, this is true. But it is contested that, a longer grown plant given more time and food etc will produce higher thc and cbd contents and produce a better smoker. Also, Even though you are only doing a small area, you should take into account that more plants is looked more harshly on by the law. Its easier to argue personal use when u got 6, 10 or so plants than 100 babies cranking at all times.
