Its not like there is an advertisement saying "We will stop selling this strain in 2 months" most of the time.
Usually there is something really bad that happens (like a raid) and mom's and dad's get taken and that strain disappears.
So having some in storage of a strain you really like is probably a good idea.

strains run out because the parents were lost or breeders have falling outs with partners and seed companies or the breeder is just over the strain themselves or the breeder leaves a seed company and takes the strain with him. Sometimes they're just a limited release.

I have a couple strains I grew from seed that are impossible to get again. I was at the right place at the right time to get them.

People stock up on seeds for these reasons or as regulations become more strict a lot of genetics could be lost in the future.

I have more seeds than I could ever grow. I have them anyway.

Really? I've run 7 IHG fems to harvest, and not one hermie. Isn't that odd? And on top of that, every one has been top notch smoke. And is. A couple of clones from the last chop are within a couple weeks finish, and once again.....no problemos !

7 diffrent strains from a single breeder and "every one has been top notch smoke" ... I don't care who the breeder is, you must have a low bar for top notch.

I dont think a majority of the grow reports I have seen have had those results, but it could be user error. I don't grow fems anymore or from any company who release 50+ strains in one year, but if youre getting great smoke then right on, thats all that matters.

7 'beans' of 3 strains, for accuracy's sake. Plenty of pics in the IHG thread,

The bar: tastes excellent, smokes smooth, and potent.

But, yeah......surely your bar is far more elite.

I have way to many seeds. I hybridize just about everything. Once a good pheno comes along, I stop testing old seeds.

close to 100 different hybrids. Not many f2... maybe like 6.
