are people still using the term lid?? I heard they used that back in the 70's/80's bc the weed came in a lid or some shit?

Lid - Def#1 original 60's version- 1 finger on a bag of marijuana approx. equal to a 1/4 oz. the term comes from the 1960's and is used correctly in Cheech & Chongs movie: Things are Tough All Over.

Lid - Def#2 90's version -1 ounce of marijuana.

Lid - Def#3 submitted version - It is the amount of marijuana that fits into the lid of a mason jar:bigjoint:

found this..but when i searched there were many diff definitons. so maybe some ol'school cats on here can elaborate the REAL definition.

I'd call a lid number 3 on the above list...makes WAY more sense than the others!

I'd say no less than 6, could easily stretch it to 16 though (having said that I mix it with baccy so...)

Got the phrase from Cheech N Chongs "Greatest Hit..." Correct answer is 2... mom said a lid was 4 fingers... big ole bag a sticks and stones... haha tommy said he rolls 2 in a lid.

1 finger = dime
2 finger = 1/8
3 finger = small 1/4
4 finger = fat 1/4

half a baggie = 1/2 oz

full baggie = 1 oz

those are old school measurments with no scales.

Hes talking about the weed in the 70s,it was small bags of columbian or some other import and no way a 1/4 was 2 fingers,youd be lucky to get one finger bag back in the day.My first bag of columbian red bud was 10.00 for 7.5 grams in 1977.It was about as big around as a nickel..peace

but seriously, this question is over most of our heads, but from my pop's "glory days" stories, he claims a "lid" was your regular sandwich baggie, stuffed to the brim so that the flap just folded over like a 'lid'.....

I dunno, I wasnt there.
