bigger veg = bigger yield, because the plant is so much bigger. Requires more light and lots of space so most people keep it pretty short, a couple weeks or a month or 2 months.

or you could veg longer because you are LST or SCRoGing and need more tops for flowering.
But generally that is the idea... longer veg bigger yield.
