How many CFL watts per plant during veggie?

Hey guys, I have everything I need and I will probably start this weekend. This will be my first grow so suffice to say, I'm just a tad excited!

My school girl giddiness aside, I just have a quick question. I plan on germinating 10 AK47/SSH seeds. I plan on vegging them until their sex shows then work it from there. What I want to do is use CFL lighting for these 10 plants. Simply put, what is the wattage per plant, or per space required? I bought a 4 pack of 100watters at Home Depot a few days ago. Will this be enough? Or not enough? If I need more, approx how much more?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

you need much more to grow that many plants i would use the 4 100w on the four sides and get at least 4 200w for the top, those plants will be at least a foot tall each before showing sex, you will probably need more though

I don't grow indoors really, but there are a lot of really good posts in here on lighting and such. Dig back through some of the old ones. I figure the cfls will get them out of the ground, past that you'll need supplements, looking at the red/blue spectrums, the kelvin temps, etc. But you'll do well :) :peace:

Anybody? Just a simple yes, need more, etc would suffice.

Thanks.
Don't think that will work buddy, your going to need more. or more powerful cfls. I would do one 100watt per light. But all depends on how good of plants you want.
If you get some 200 watters or 300 you can decrease the amount of lights you need.
Good luck on the germinating, how tall are you going to grow your plants?
Smoke on, hope this helps.bongsmilie

that should be fine. i just read a thread where someone grew some haze with 4 lower wattage clfs. it came out better than his outdoor plants. i just planted a haze seed i found 2day. hope its a female. im also using clfs. i keep watch for some pics.

Thanks for the replies guys!

So I guess the consensus is more lights then? Hmmm...interesting. Not exactly what I was hoping for but at least I know, haha.

If it helps, here's what I was hoping to do. Since this my first grow, I'll germinate 10 seeds or so (maybe a little less, who knows). Then I'll veggie them until they show their sex. Chop the males, and keep the females. Then I'll take clones of the females, and once the clones are established for a few days or a week or two max, I place them in the flowering room, since I know their sex. I'll be doing a vertical grow, so I can place more with less space.

Now...when I think about it...and I don't know why this didn't come up sooner, but since I'll need just one, maybe 2 or 3 females max to clone from, you guys think I should germinate only 5 seeds? Then if I get the mothers I want, I can keep the other seeds for another grow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks fellas. I'm especially interested in hearing what you guys think about my newest idea.

Thanks again!

I didn't read anybody else's replies, but I get at least 4 100 watt equivalent bulbs per plant. 6500K for veg and 2600k for flower. Can't remember if its 2600 or 2700 for the flowering CFL's, but look on the box.

even if you bud them at 12 inches 4-26 watt(100watt equivalent)per plant won't be enough. I scrog one plant under my lights try 6-26watt per plant per foot . you'll need some light to get nice tight bud formation but you can always add more ass you need them :eyesmoke:didnt mean to sound like a know it all sorry thats whats working for me
