I believe I read a month before... I'm hoping it's actually less than that! Coconut oil in a jar, double wrapped in foil, full sun. Maybe a pint or two of oil and trim.

why would it taste awful? it's in a sealed jar the temp isn't enough to turn it otherwise cooking would as well. I have cooked it on the stove in the past I'm just trying something different.

30 days but it needs to be in a black sealed container..

IMO.. it's a waste of 30 days if you cant use a crockpot use an outside toaster oven.. I have made medibles for the last 2 years.. My personal fav has to be the peanut butter + MMJ baked at 250

like this..

Well, I gave it a week+ in 95-105 degree weather... I decided to pull it just to make sure it didn't go rancid.. your post gave me second thoughts :) It did not go rancid. Oxygen and light are the biggest factors for rancidity and I took those out of the equation... coconut oil has a high temp it will go to before getting rancid... i did think pushing it through a month of the same temps might be too much... I think a week may have been just right, but won't know til later...

Getting ready to make cake now... coconut oil starts clear. it's now a nice golden amber... (not green -- every oil i've ever cooked has come out at least a light shade of green) -- i kept a 1/3 cup out for the cake and the rest went in the freezer

There was a chart on here that had the shelf life of open cooking oils..

I would not worry about olive oil unless your just planning on never using it for 6 mo's I dont think I have allowed my oil to last more then about 3 weeks before using it.. so how did the oil work out?

How long will oil last, like peanut oil?

Different cooking oils stay fresh for different amounts of time, but you must treat them all well. They should be tightly covered and stored in the dark away from the heat (especially not in that handy cupboard over the stove). The less access they have to the air, the fresher they will stay. Refrigeration benefits most oils.
If unopened, peanut oil and corn oil and other vegetable oils will keep for at least a year. Once opened, they’re good for four to six months. But peanut oil, like olive oil, which is high in monounsaturates, benefits more from storage in the refrigerator. Olive oil will keep for about 6 months in the cool, dark pantry, but up to a year in the refrigerator. It may become cloudy and thicken up in the cold, in which case, letting it warm to room temperature will restore its pouring capacity. Walnut oil and sesame oil are delicate and inclined toward turning rancid. Kept in the refrigerator, they will stay fresh for two to four months.

HAhaha I've been using the same olive oil bottle for like almost 2 years that's been sitting in my pantry... oops!

Your biggest problem will be not getting all of the air out and all parts of the cannabis to be coated with oil. We would let in sit in a South facing window for 6 weeks
