How long does it take to grow pot???

What determines germination or clone, vegetation, and flowering times? Is it based on the strain, the type of grow, or what? I see "flowering times" listed under different strains on seed bank sites, but I'm confused as to exactly what that means. Help a newb out!

Each strain grows.differently the flowering days you see on those sites are exactly that. You must first grow your plants in the veg stage here you can grow them as big as you want then induce them into flowering for the given amount of time

About a week and a half from seed to smoke...

Nah, don't we all wish?

Vegetative growth is very dependent upon the grower. The minimum time anyone should grow in the vegetative stage is about 2 weeks, but most people would recommend 5+ weeks. Flowering time is much more strain dependent. Some strains are early finishers. AK-47 is named such because it is supposed to finish in 47 days under optimal conditions. If you're growing plants from clone, you cut off about 2-3 weeks on the vegetative growth, as you have the size you need from the plant, you just need the root structure. So when growing from clone, it's traditionally thrown into veg for a couple weeks to shoot out some nice roots, and then is thrown into the flowering photoperiod (lights on 12 hours then off 12 hours).

So to answer your original question: Yes, it depends widely on strain. But on AVERAGE, you're looking at:

- 1 week maximum for seed to pop from the ground and grow its first set of leaves.
- 2 weeks minimum vegetative growth
- 7 weeks flower
- 1 week dry/cure (this should be much longer, but sounds like you're antsy to finish - this will not give your buds the best taste possible though)

Roughly 11 weeks. But you should go longer to get the best quality smoke.

Simple answer it takes tooo lonnnnggg, everystrain is different and most seed banks are preetty close to right but that under perfect conditions.

gerination 1-5 days normallly
Vegg time in weeks 0-8
flower timein weeks 7-13 some say they flowerd in less but for realls 7 is a strech if finished prall not

complete grow seed to budds 8-24 weeks.

you can get clones and not veg saves time i will not flower clones until they have atleast 7 nodes and seeds i wait for preflower.

He's got it about right ^ I veg for 6 weeks and takes roughly 8 weeks for my strain to be perfect I've grown 3 times and 1st time I only vegged 3 weeks and flowered in 5 which was a terrible idea. Didn't smoke as great as I wanted it to.

Take your time man you don't want to rush and end up ruining your crop

veg is a minimum of 4 weeks with non-auto strains if grown from seed. Usually around 6 weeks.
The flowering time is how long it takes to ripen since the plant started to throw pistils around.

With a quick indica you can EXPECT these times:
2 days to pop
2 weeks in the seedling stage.
4 weeks in the veg stage.
7 weeks in the flowering stage.
5 days to dry.

Considering the plant growth wasn't stunted at any stage and enough light was provided.

So 14 weeks from seed.

You can flower clones much faster:
2 weeks to root, but you usually get rooted clones.
1 week veg.
7 weeks flowering.
5 days drying.

total of almost 9 weeks from a rooted clone.

But not giving the clone enough veg time will result in a MUCH smaller plant that will yield much less.

Awesome guys, thanks for the help. Now here's a follow up question. After my first grow or two and I find the mother plant I want, I would ideally have a vegetative stage (from clone) and flowering stage of the same length. If I do veg for 8-10 weeks, which seems like a really long time from clone, which growing style should I use to get the most out of my (giant) plants? Should I only grow a few plants and bush them out since they're going to be so big? Or should I have two or more seperate flowering chambers so I can veg for about 4-5 weeks and harvest every month or so? Does that make sense?
