How long do you give a clone to root before giving up?

How long do you give a clone to root before giving up? It's been in a product called "gel2root" for close to 2 weeks. Not roots, but still green.

I just had some clones take as long as 17 days to show roots through a Rapid Rooter! It was a lot longer than normal, but I would wait 3-4 weeks. After 4 weeks try again!

I'd say if it's still green its not dead. So give it until it shrivels up and dies, or forms roots.

.... or until you feel like its looking at you funny and you rip it out of its moist little medium and rip what leaves it had remaining from the stem!!!!! :cuss:

bawhahahahaha, that's funny shit Gidgit, usually 2 weeks to root but I've waited for over a month for some strains.
Do you have a humidity dome over them? what type of medium do you have them in?

I just started cloning and the first time I did it 'perfectly' (sterilization, cutting on an angle, etc) with excellent results and the second time I lazed out and didn't use clean technique and I had a far lower success rate. What I am trying to say is that taking the time to do it right really helps.
When I clean my razor with alcohol, cut on a 45 degree angle, scrape away the green layer on the lower half inch of the cutting and make a small split up the middle and dip it in the clone gel then plant in a jiffy cube with a humidity tent and put up off the ground in the periphery of my 1000W light I have almost 100 percent rooting within 2 weeks or so.
So far I have two clones that are still alive 2 months after cutting but no roots! I am keeping them just to see what happens. Yesterday I re-cut the stem of one of the runt clones and re-dipped it and replanted it.
So to answer your question if you have the room, wait until they root or whither!

The only thing that I keep in the back of my mind is that if I do get busted, they count the number of plants and so I ask myself, do I want to risk more punishment for a plant that got off to a shitty start or who has bad genes for cloning?

Mine usually take 5-14 days. But if it's still alive I see no reason to trash it. It will either grow roots or die so it's only a matter of time.
I'm also a big fan of Rapid Rooter plugs.

You can maximize root growth by not only cutting at an angle, but carefully make a few vertical cuts as well with a scalpel near the bottom.

You can also just take a razor and scrape off the top layer all around about an inch of the base and it will do the same thing. I've had my clones root usually in 3-5 days by doing this. My first time it took 22 days to root and i found out it was because i only did the one cut at the bottom. No much area for new roots to grow.

That's my usual method.

I concur completely.

I was going to mention that as well, but didn't want to throw it all out there. Technically that method is used for hardwood cuttings, but if carefully done, it will do softwoods (weed).
