How long do seeds bought online last?

My seeds are on their way, and I was wondering how long before a seed "expires"? More specifically how long would I be able to wait without sacrificing the health of the plant before I'd have to germinate it? The strain I bought is Northern Lights.

...depends on how you store them......I put mine in a bag of rice, in a mason jar, in a dark bag, in the fridge.........the main thing is to keep them away from moister, they'll last very, very long, just keep'em dry.

i have some for more than 4yrs now and they still pop fine.

Stored in fridge and air tight, 10 or more years is my guess.

mine were kept in original envelope on shelf in veg room.

You never know how old they are your best bet is to use them fairly quikly but seeds properly stored theoretically can last eons. One thousand year old Cannabis seeds were found in clay jars in the Gobi desert sprouted.
