just wondering, if stressed- can a female plant go hermie before they started flowering?? or if stressed early in veg but recovered, can it still go hermie when it starts to flower?

Yes. and it depends on the stress level, most mj will recover from light to mild stress but if your plant is constantly undergoing mild to heavy stress then herming will be a factor.

i am of the opinion that we don't really know for sure. there are different sides to the coin. some believe that gender is absolutely predetermined in the seed, meaning the plant is the same sex at sprout as it is at 5 weeks veg as it is at harvest. some believe that stress causes hermies. some believe that all plants are prone to hermie and it is the grower with the final say while others believe a hermie is a hermie and separate from a male or female. some believe that sex hormones are only active once a plant is mature or forced to flower. i have yet to see a study where a vegging plant had its dna extracted therefore proving what sex it is, then comparing it later to the dna when the plant is flowering. if stress truly "causes" hermies, then a simple dna test should prove it. until someone does a series of dna tests we are really all just speculating imo.

The way I take the guess work out of growing pot is really simple.
1. Germenate and start some seeds into a growing medium.
2. After said plants have greened enough snip, code and start a clone off of each plant.
3.Keep the clones on 24 hrs. This will keep them from budding.
4.Completely isolate the clones from the op and if you get males don't pollinate your clones.
5.When it's all done you'll know what's what and you can cook the bunk into binder.
6.After this you will know what the clones from your new moms will produce.
I have never witnessed a male shoot coming from a female. Some snips will develope a seed or two regardless, it's the nature of the plant. You will always get empty seed pouches.
