How does yield and light work?

I once heard or read, that you will not get the double yield if you plant 2 plants instead of 1.
So for example:
I have 1 plant under a mixture of cfl's and led's about 150watt: Yielding 50g
I have 2 plants under a mixture of cfl's and led's about 150watt: Yielding 50g - 25g each
Is this true?

But if you for example have as much as maybe 600watt, you can yield more by having 2 or more plants?
Example:
I have 1 plant under a mixture of cfl's and led's about 600watt: Yielding 175g
I have 2 plants under a mixture of cfl's and led's about 600watt: Yielding 250g - 125g each
I have 3 plants under a mixture of cfl's and led's about 600watt: Yielding 300g - 100g each
Is this true?

Please share your knowledge with me here guys :D
If you have any advice, please let me know

My cheap setup now:
1x 36w (actual 15w) led bulb 6red & 3blue
2x 20w cfl bulbs 2700kelvin
1x 150w led ufo full spectrum from ebay (actual 36w)... chinese....

Okay thank you a lot.
But is it because the other plant absorbs the energy? since a plant grows bigger alone? it just sounds stupid, but i know its true

And can i up my yield by choosing a auto strain that is high yielding? Or is it still limited because of my little setup?
(I grow auto's indoor and "not-autos" outdoor)

say you have a 18x18" space that is 2.25 sq feet. you can have 4 small plants in there or one large plant in there and the only difference is filling that canopy effectively.
so you have 91w divided by 2.25 sq feet is 40.44w/sq foot which is about right. you could go to 4sq feet but then you are down to 22.75w/sq foot which is below optimum of 30-50. i dont know how big your autos would get given your environment, so i cant really say. photos are easier to predict for me.

well right now i am not using any tent, but im using a cabinet with white walls only.. So it is a very cheap and easy setup i have.
I will go for some more watt when i get paid, but this time only cfl's.. I think i will buy 2 or 4 23watt cfl 6400k

I'm not sure how this would relate to autos... but based on this video.. my theory is that the more plants, the more light competition. With multiple plants you're not only growing multiple buds, but light energy is also spent on multiple leaves, multiple stems, and multiple root systems. Just wasted energy unless you plan on doing something with the leaves, stems, and roots.

Hmm.. Thank u for the video
I will just go for 1 auto strain at a time, and see if it yields fine.
Even though auto dosnt get very big so there shouldnt be that much og a light competetion between 2, but i will just stay with 1 at a time to be safe

I have read about it a few places now, and it seems like there is no limit at 600 or more wattage. I read that a plant could even yield up to 1.2 kilograms if i have 1200w hps?

But Can you hook me up with some knowlodge about led, CFL and hps?
A 600 watt hps vs a 600 watt led?
Lets say the actual watt of the led is about 250w, but it says 600w.
I heard that led's should be more effective Per watt?
I know Why led's dosnt run at full power

And just 1 more question:
Does a plant grow faster if it gets 600watt when it is only 1-2 weeks old? Or would it grow just as fast with about 100watt in the beginning?

My opinion is it's best to ramp up intensity, if not for opportunity with multiple tens/boxes/rooms and younger plants not having the leaf mass to demand so much light, it's for efficiency of electrical use. I have 4 areas. Small for space for breeding clones with 56 watts cfl. Clone/Seedling with 100w T-5. Veg with dimmable ballast, use 250 a MH, then switch to 400 watt MH at end of veg. Then it flowers at 600w HPS. Could finish with a 1000 HPS or MH but I don't plan on it right now.

Okay ty. Good to know.
So for example i could just go for my 150w led ufo (36w) in the beginning of my auto's, and when they become like 2-3 weeks old i add my 2 CFL's and my led bulb?

CFL's seem to be popular for veg. like underground said vegging plants do not require as much light.. somewhere around 20-30 watts per sq ft seems good for veg. during flower ideal watts per sq ft is like a minimum of 50.. but up to 80-100 watt per sq ft.

as far as flower, HPS are definitely popular.. i think LEDs are slowly taking over. they are currently more expensive but they are more efficient. COB's are what seem to be the most popular method of lighting for those pushing the envelope. (cree cxb3590's, citizen 1212's)

i currently have 2 mars 300's (134 true watts) and i'm going to convert them to COB lighting in the next few months for much better lighting and much better efficiency.

How much space are your seedlings and clones going to take up? How wide before moving or changing light? Not big if you're solo cupping. Could easily do 15-20. I do less. Can fit my mini humidity dome and a few seedlings easy. 50w/sf. Can't see the muffin can in the side, but right at canopy level, and exhaust at the top right.

Please only claim real watts. Do not use the "conversion watts" or whatever marketing BS.
Since we are used to this we dont need consumer marketing :)

So if you say whatever watts of cfl, or however many watts led, or hps, or whatever, we will know how much power that is.

If you tell us its a 100 watt led but its actually only drawing 11 watts at the wall we may give you poor advice.

That said, its about filling your area without overcrowding it. You can do that with any number of plants, 1 big or a few small. The benifit of 1 plant is that it will grow and finish the same, because its only one plant.
If you use more plants some will grow tall or shortly, bushy or like a pole.

I like to assume that a average grow will harvest 1/3 the actual watts used. That number can fluctuate, but its been accurate fairly oftan.

Leds are a differant ballgame and there are a lot of lies out there... ime... id say maybe 500 watts led compares to 600 hps. However the hps light will be "denser" and will grow buds differantly.

Im a big fan of led + hps, but i dont really buy the hype of led alone.

I just thought that if id' say the real wattage.. people would think that would be the conversion watts.

Beginning of next month im going to buy a tent, but i dont know what size i should go for? 18x18" sounds fine 2 me right now
I am planning on buying a 200w CFL for sale for about 33 euro. Pretty cheap.
But it is for flowering (2700k), so i dont know. Do you think that would be a stupid choise? Or should i spent my money on a maybe 85-125w cfl (6500k) for veg?

I know youd think that, most new people do. Thats why i said what i did ;)
