How does everybody like their CMH bulbs?

I got a 400w CMH bulb a couple months ago and my plants don't seem too impressed. It is very bright and white and pretty hot. I used to run a 400mh and the plants could grow right to the reflector. The plants in my flower room with 600hps can grow right up to the reflector. When plants in the veg room get within 2 feet of the CMH they start wilting and twisting and get sorta yellow. I have a couple mothers in there under flourescent and if a few branches grow toward the CMH they start to yellow; and these are big and healthy bitches. My plants think it's a 1000w MH or something. I don't see why this is happening. Light is light isn't it? It does seem pretty white and sterile. The plants seem ok when they are 2 ft away but I never had to keep a light that high since my 1000 watt days. Has anybody else noticed anything like this? Oh yeah, the room never gets above 70 f.

i luves mine i had a raggedy set up wit 2 x 250w lights a eye hortilux - hps - an a phillips cmh
i just recently changed to a double bulb hood a growzilla it has a 400w hps an a250w cmh
will never give it up been useing it for about 2 years now

truth of the matter is mh or cmh is best for veg
first 1/3 of flower best served by mh or cmh - alimanates stretch
second 1/3 of flower best served by hps - gets you rock hard buds
last 1/3 of flower best served by mh or cmh - best for putting on finl weight bulk up stage

with only one bulb an no options id pick a cmh

but i use both rotating location under the both lights
an spinning pots

though i haven't crossed to the hid realm yet, still using cfl's, i watch all the technology out there
i do see this quite a lot for the cmh, they work ok but nothing dramatic, seems pretty pricey for the results

Well, my cmh bulb died. I hope I can find a receipt in case there is a warranty. I had to go back to my 400mh.....AND MY PLANTS ARE JUMPIN' FOR JOY!!! I don't know why they didn't like the cmh because I did. It was way brighter and whiter than the mh but the leaves would yellow when they got within 12-14 inches of it. Maybe they were bleaching? Anyway, 2 days later and all those yellowing leaves are lush green again. I don't know what to think. I will try a cmh again and I would like to try one in the flower room for supplemental light. I was curious if anyone else was having these same issues. Peace.

I did a run with a Sunpulse 3k and wasn't impressed with the end results. I find using the hps for flower gets bigger denser buds. And the sunpulse bulb was 140 bucks. Not worth it in my book. Maye for the first few weeks of flower and that's it.

when i read about CMH, i was sure this was the definitive growing light, the spectrum sounded perfect
just goes to show the quirks of our plant, you don't know what works best until you try it
