You will probably have to use two seperate circuits to handle that many amps.

i agree you need to determine your amp load on each circuit you plan on using and not go over 75% of the amount of the circuit (i.e. 20amp stay below 15amp)

you must also keep in mind that other outlets are probably tied into the circuit, it is best to map out every outlet in your house and possibly even draft out a schematic (it is not that difficult). balancing load is something that is very important in commercial applications, and most houses/apartments were not built with the ability to handle large amounts on one circuit (except dedicated for ovens/refrigerators etc).

if you own your own house and are doing it in a basement i would suggest possibly adding a separate breaker box off of the service line to keep things separate and allow for expansion. when i buy my house early next year i plan on doing the same and getting an energy management system to control timers and the like.

at the very least I'd put the lights on their own breaker, can get 30amp breakers, think they take up 2 slots in your box. The amperage draw is going to be the key.

I switched to 220.....that helped out on the energy usage......a lot power usage looks bad....but if you are paying your bill on time you should be fine....they are more worried about making money......plus it takes more than a high electric bill before you need to worry about your door getting kicked in.

each 1000 watt is roughly $40/month. 4 * 40= $160/month. $140/month isn't a whole lot of energy consumption. My runs around $220/month without grow lights. It really all depends on your situation. $140/month maybe considered high in a 1 bedroom apartment, but low in a 4 bedroom house. Hope this helps
