How do you feel about tap water?

I recently conducted my own experiment and concluded that tap water is SHIT. I started some seedlings and in 2 weeks with just tap water, the leaves started to yellow. I threw them out and started over, good thing for me i just moved to a new house with a bay in my backyard :weed: . So i repeated the last grow using natural bay water and growth rate tripled, and plants are nice and healthy. I suppose the reason tap water is SHIT is bad pH. I would also like to say that it contains chlorine and flouride, both of which are posionus to plants and humans. I am new at this myself so the purpose of this post is to inform others that tap water is shit, although i have not seen any posts on this subject. I know tap water differs greatly by area, and i may have extra shitty tap water, but i will never use it again. Does anyone know if the small amounts of chemicals in tap water are harmful? Any downside of using pond/rain/bay water? Feel free to post with more info on this subject and what water source you use.:joint:

I use tap water exclusively for watering and feeding. I put in 5 gal buckets and let it set out for at least 24 hours before I use it. This allows most of the chemicals to disipate out. I live in a big city and the water supply is good. From cloning to harvest the tap water is the shit!

I have always just let my tap water sit for a day to let the chlorine and fluoride evaporate. I stir the water a few times over the day to make sure that the majority of the "stuff" is gone by the time I use it.

If you have a well then the water is going to suck unless you have a water softener setup..

Just buy the 3 gallon jugs of spring water from the store

well shit, i guess tap water is the shit, lol. Guess my problem was not letting it sit out. but fuck it, i have a whole bay of natural water so i dont neeed to worry bout it anymore. And yea those reverse osmosis systems are also the shit, but its like 1-5 grand for the house model.......

you were right tho it depends on where you live....
and i m just lucky i can use it... although i gotta admit ya do get better resultswith clean water.... damsare cool but it also depends on water quality and minerals in it from the soil.... but yes a good fresh dam will be fine... rainwater isnt as clean as ppl say its got shit from the atmosphere in it contaminating it, that our fault mainly tho :( but hey ya get that :) any pure water will be perfect... cities water is generally the water that is too high in ph and contaminants... most farm places will be fine... this isnt always the case...

your one of the lucky ones too have such good clean water near you

I like to take baths in it and I drink it. :)

Yea that first post was kind of funny though... You didn't read the growfaq or a book or whatever.

I had a PH problem with my tap water at first like you mentoned in your first post after the problem was corrected I continued to use tap their growth increased and now are healthy and happy in flowering. People like using the RO and distilled water cause RO water has like 0 PPM and distilled has the chlorine and what not out. I'll continue to use tap. If I have $150 or more to spend and not sure what to do with it i'd prob grab an RO filter but I think its going well for a first time grow

you just need to PPm your tap water fto find out how shitty it really is, anything over 200ppm is considered bad for growing and should be filtered

yea like its been said once or twice in this thread, tap water is totaly fine man, you just have to let it sit for at least 24 hours so the chlorine and flouride evaporate out of it. after that its good to go man.
