How do you clean YOUR bong?

For years I've enjoyed using bongs, but hated trying to clean them. There is nothing nastier than a "foul" bong!
Last Christmas, my son gave me a bong that I really love, but how to clean it?

get that 'vanish' spraying shit, i use it all the time when i clean my bong.

isopropyl n salt all day, maybe some acetone

I get free "Brake Cleaner" or "Carburetor Cleaner" from work, kicks ass..... but the salt/acetone works well too. I thought salt acetone worked better than salt and alcohol.

Interesting, but a little too toxic & expensive for me. As I said, the 91% alcohol actually sterilizes your bong, and that's a good thing during cold and flu season.......BB

salt and 91% iso all day long... just takes a few minutes of swirling it around...

the people at my local head shop swear that stresses the glass and will make it break easier and to use 420 cleaner

may be there right maybe there just trying to sell their product but do you want to take the chance on a 100-500$ piece? I mean I use alcohol on mine but thats just because im a cheap bastard. just figured i pass the info along

Salt can't scratch the bong and alcohol is used in glass cleaning products.

formula420 is a rip, have u smelled it?? Now smell ur bottle of rubbing alcohol....yea its the same shit with some blue coloring and a slight orange scent+an abrasive.It works dont get me wrong but is not worth 10$ name if u can alternate w/ 2$ salt and iso. They make 2 diff kinds and ones for acrylic and one for glass, if u use the glass cleaner on acrylic it will break down the acrylic just a little fyi. And whoever said that iso breaks down glass is wrong, if alcohol broke down glass then we wouldnt have 90% of liquors in glass bottles and i wouldnt use them to clean glassware in the lab-glass is inert.

I refuse to shake my pipe (Toro Micro, circ perc to 8 arm tree) around in ANY situation, the grunge off is a soaker, takes about 3 hours, looks fresh off the shelf!

anything to sell products i been useing salt and alche for some time now been at it since 1965 never any problems i use kosha salt the course grains

did you notice how your head shop was just trying to sell you some shit...

mark emery swears by iso and salt... of which is a product that produces stellar results, and is dirt cheap, there is no reason not to use it... i clean motherboards, and other electronics with high% iso, or de alcohol, it aint gonna hurt the glass at all. the guys at the head shop were full of shit trying to take advantage of the gullible.

i use heated acetone with salt and it takes everything off quickly

That stuff really works, but it's just isopropyl alcohol and salt and some blue color.
I'm not a hater though. Good for somebody getting rich off bong cleaner. I wish I had invented that.

I read all comments and appreciate the thread. I have a hitman (google hitman glass if you wanna see sick)piece, and it is fucking filthy, had an ash catcher made to match to avoid the inevitable cleaning from here out. What is the repercussions of said 'harsh' cleaners? Ive noticed after letting a filthy piece sit in dr. green, that there is almost a coating eaten off the piece. It turns slimy, and can wipe away when rinsing. Smack me now, but is there a coating applied, or mixed to protect glass? Thanks and + for any legible answers.

use alcohol and KOSHER SALT....DO NOT use iodized salt...kosher works much better.... also heat the alcohol up in the microwave for a tid bit.....pour both in the bong and shake the hell out of it!!!!!!!!

if u use anything else your wasting time and $$$.
