"We will discuss immigration reform when our Borders are Secure"

So how do we define our borders as secure?

No sanctuary cites, no drivers licenses for illegals, no free healthcare and swift deportation of all offenders.
We need to stop all incentives for illegal aliens, this would be a good start.

I agree with removing incentives for illegal immigration, but we need to make legal immigration more inciting. The cost of getting into the US legally is just to much for the average illegal immigrant.

In my opinion a secure border is one where we can monitor, regulate, screen, and track numbers of who crosses the border.

So, how many a year is "actually let some people through the legit way?" How many is SOME? Why do you make stuff up?
Here is 50k we just give away as Lottery, to offset the big legal immeigarte countries, Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom and China.

Let's plan out lives around the fact we MIGHT get chosen out of the lottery.

The other ways are virtually impossible unless you've serious credits in the bank.

I know Ireland will let in any destitute bum, so we have keep up with the Leaders of Peace.
You are why we can't close our borders. You would think we were meanies, and we ARE NOT.

I'm actually saying to make it more secure you need to make a way for people to realistically get in legally and then lock down the rest.

Well over 10% of our 300,000,000 population migrated here, and only about 1/4 of that was illegal border crossing or visa over-stays. So, again we see the problem with Ireland, it's people..

It shouldn't take more than a year to get here legally. Co-workers from Canada took 12 years and 10's of thousands of dollars to do it legally, that's nuts.

Why should we let Canadians in? My brother tried to migrate to Canada. He has 2 college degrees, fits all the criteria of Peace-nik, has marketable job skills, but could not spend $30-40K to make it happen. But, if he was an extreme Muslim, that would have done it for him

Why should they let non-Muslim Americans in?

They let Irish people in with little more re: qualifications than a truck license...

Your brother must have a skill that is not in demand there, anything regarding the mining industry or any tertiary industries that appear as a result is a sure way in.

Trades like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc are all other sure ways in.

Maybe they just don't like Yanks?

Why should they keep them out? Is over population a problem in Canada?

Besides, I don't care how Dudley does it, I care how we do it. It should not take a decade to get here, once here we should NOT lose track of people. Like Buck said, half the people that are now illegal started out legally.

Our immigration is a clusterfuck. We have the capability of monitoring every citizen's phones, computers, we have satellites that can pinpoint a lost dog, but we can't keep up with people who came here on work visas?

All I ask for is criminal background checks before letting people in. I'm OK with a charge too, immigration department could have their budget paid for solely on fees from people wanting to come here. Just 1K a piece would generate billions.
