how do i tell when my plants are done flowering

ok so i think i read when those little white things are mostly orange mine are about half orange and half white, are they done yet?
and how do i dry the plants..and for how long?

Probably not even close. That method doesn't work at all. You base your flowers maturity/readiness on the white crystals you should be seeing on your buds and upper leaves. It should be quite pronounced.
You need to read about trichs in the faq's.
 
Get a microscope or good magnifying glass and look at the trichomes. When your bud has reached it's maximum potency the trichomes will take on a partial amber color. when they are about 50/50 clear/amber they have reached their peak. Any longer and they will start to degrade, any sooner they're not ready. 80 percent of trichome production occurs in the last two weeks of flowering so if you pick early you'll really lose out. When in doubt wait a week.

No probably not. This is not a good way to tell if your girls are ready. Get a hand held microscope 30x.
Yoy will only know when your weed is ready to harvest. By checking the trichones crystals. Every one has there own preference to how the crystals look. I go for 90% milky 10% amber. if you must go by the pistols try get 75 to 80% orange. Your girls most likely are not ready yet.

It's great that you are keeping a close eye on your girls. Nice grow BTW! When your orange pistols turn brown and begin retracting back into where they came from, you should be getting closer. You might want to buy a cheap 30x loupe and then start watching your trichs. At that I'll stop, as many people have different ideas. I wait for 30% amber. Go to only water right now! Peace

Yeah, um.... nice bit of advise their pal. Buuuuut your a lil late to the party! Im thinkin that these plants are looooooonnnnggggghh gone and smoked! Haha
