How do I pollinate my own crop?

I've read over the internet that you can pollinate just a few buds on your plant without having to lose your whole plant to the male. I'm not sure when I'm suppose to cut the male off the plant and I don't know how to get the pollen. Help me Obi-Wan your my only hope and can you post some pics on your reply. Thankyou

Get the male plant as far as possible from the female, take a branch off and shake the pollen on a plate or table top, then get a paint brush and pick up some pollen with the brush and then brsh it on the buds you would like to make seeds with. It will take some of the plants energy to produce seeds so the plant won't be the same potency as it normally is but that way you can select which branches you pollenate and which ones you don't.
