not true at all a plant will grow has good has it is geneticly capable of. even if it got poliinated seeded kush is still kush but with seeds. only a small amount of thc potential is lost due to pollination yield is affected much more then potency when shit gets pollinated
Sensimilla tends to develop more resin glands later in flower as a stress reaction from not being pollinated. If you pollinate the plant will put more energy into producing seeds.:leaf:

you can polish a terd but that doesnt change the fact that its still a terd.....

potency = 90% genetics IMHO

results can be "optimized" according to this or breed to alter the................

Genetics are alot but not everything, not even close. With the best genetics will a plant grow without some sort of nutes and how well? Will it grow proper under the wrong lights or too little? No, so by having high quality equipment and nutes (whether homemade organic or high priced store bought) you can increase your chances at a WAY BETTER HARVEST. Genitics have ALOT to do with it, but I disagree with the whole 90% thing

Good genetics, UVB spectrum, low humidity and a little water stress 2nd half of flowering, and the extended dark before chopping can't hurt.. Yield will be hurt a tad, but probably not overall buzz value..

extended dark before chopping is bull bro. what the hell will happen in one or two days that will increase your yeild. buy good seeds fuck the rest o the myths. good genetics knowledgable growers and time produces good bud.

I saw a difference on a side-by-each with identical clones.. The dark really seemed to increase the resin content (likely a panic response).. And btw, the 48hrs occur 'after' ideal harvest time.. Not the last two days of desired growth, so yea your yield may increase a tad giving them light those days, but you'd be harvesting later than ideal ripeness.. If there was any difference I saw regarding trichrome ratio, the dark panicked buds had more clearish ones..

It may be a myth and then again it may not be a myth.

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden. One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.

SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

It is known that sunlight/grow lights degrade THC, both in growing/flowering plants and also in harvested drying/dried herb.

THC in part works like a sunscreen to protect the THC producing resin heads on the trichome stalks.

During hours of light THC will degrade and then during periods of darkness it will be not only be replenished but overall it will increase.

What happens is something of a roller coaster ride of THC production going up and down and up and down but each up period of darkness increases the overall amounts slightly more until the plant reaches its full genetic potential, assuming of course that all growing conditions are optimal.

That is the reason it is considered best to harvest right before first light or as soon as possible after it becomes light or grow lights switch on.

A plant’s THC level will be the highest right before it receives any sunlight/grow light and slightly decrease throughout the day as the plant receives more and more light from whatever source.

or it could just be a placebo affect because ppl want it to work so they think, imagine, or dream it does... u can shit on a wall and call it paint but its still shit

Does that sound like a placebo effect? Would a placebo effect show up in a laboratory analyses of THC levels?

yeah it does because they wanted to believe it produced more so they thought it did.. example take this sugar pill it will make u happy.. the taker gets happier.. placebo affect its all mental...im not personally attackin u just sayin im sure if i wanted to think that slappin my plants around would make them produce more then when i slapped my plants around i would believe they were better but in reality im just a nut job beatin up my plants...

GC/Mass Spec units are typically the most closed-minded and unfairly biased machines in any lab..:) Those things have an agenda all their own..:)

Anyways, it definately can't hurt to try if you've got more plants to trim than you can do in a day.. For alot of growers, side-by-each experiments are just a matter of convenience and hydro efficiency..:)
