Just wanted to give it a thought, How close is to close for larger watt cfl lighting?. At this time i am having other plant issues on my first indoor grow, and i dont think lighting is the issue . I am using 6 105watt cfls and have been keeping them less than 3inches from the plant in a feww cases and didnt seem to have a problem, although these 6 lights put out ALOT more heat than i thought they would in my 4x4x7 grow, wich i really didnt expect. I have placed my hand between the tip of the light and the plant and thought i felt a slight '"warmness"" but nothing really serious , I would like to know anyones opinion on how close is too close for cfl lighting?

i have 16 bulbs under one hood and it jacked the heat way up. do you have exhaust and circulating fans? there a must! i try to keep mine about 2 inches if possible to the tops of the plants which are 3 weeks old. to far and there gonna stretch. to close in my opinion would be 1 inch or less

Have only circulating air and the occasional window open with fan in front of it, i have two 6inch inline duct booster fans w/ ducting im going to install soon, i just havent had the wright saw to make 2 6 inch HOLES In the bottom of my walk in closet.Im in a single wide trailer and the holes i cut for ventalation will go through the floor to under my trailer totally disguised. i really think the cold ass nights were still having might be to cold to my plants rite now my temps range at 72-77 daytime / 70-75 nighttime (With Househould heat On) and this could vary if i have the door to the room open letting in fresh air. What do you do for ventilation in your room?

The room that my grow is in is a 'walk-in closet' that is 4ftX4ftX7ft. Room that is completely sealed at the far end of my trailer in the master bedroom(holds 9 plants nicely in 12inch 5 gallon nursery containers. Anway how do you think i set up ventaltion in my walkin closet?? Besides cutting two 6 inch holes in the floor?

get a fan controller and your going to have to cut holes somewhere. maybe the roof and home depot has cheap roof vents. you can even use a dryer vent on the outside somewhere to disguise it.

i installed a bathroom fan in my closet and ran flexible duct down thru the closet into the basement and hooked it to my chimney so all the stink goes HIGH in the air!!so you should be able to blow it under the trailer. i know they have the skirts around them to hide anything visibly but once they start stinking its gonna be hard to hide the smell i think. i have fans in my closet as well. no fresh air coming in , i figure the exhaust fan will create a vacuum and suck in fresh air under the door. i also make co2 in 2 liter bottles and sit in there as well. you should be able to click on my profile and find my grow thread!

How close? Close as possible. During flowering I get those CFLs as close to the buds as possible. I will sometimes minor singe some of the bigger fan leafs, they are just the cost of doing business. But those bud leafs should never get singed.

Hey diamonddav, did you install your bathroom fan and ducting more for the purpose of dispersing heat to lower your temps?.Or did you install it more for providing your plants with fresh air?

Co2 generator
2 tablespoons of active dry yeast....baking isle
2cups of sugar...also baking isle
empty gallon jug with lid
Mix your yeast in a cup of water to dissolve it.Then fill gallon jug 2/3 with water and sugar, dissolve sugar

Pour yeast mixture in water bottle and poke a few small holes in the lid for the co2 to escape,MIX VERY GENTLY,it will pressurize like a soda

I found that using distillers yeast works best. it has a higher alcohol tolerance so you can add much more sugar and let it ferment for a week. produces an unbelievable amount of CO2

Alcotec 48-hour Turbo Yeast been using this brand pretty successfully
