How can you look at sleeping plants?

I'm not sure if I posted this in the right place (RIU newbie here), but I was wondering if there's a method to being able to look at your plants while they're sleeping without shocking them or doing something that's bad for the plant. Such as, is there a type of LED lighting or something that wouldn't disrupt a plant's sleeping patern, and allow me to see whats going on so I can water, trim, and take cuttings.

My plants HPS light isn't scheduled to come on until 7PM, and some days I'm real busy after 7PM and have nothing to do all day and would like to get stuff done with the grow but can't due to fear of shocking the plants.

Anyone hear of anything related to this? bongsmilie

use a green light, and use some of that kamo paint the military use... enter at the crack of midnight and stay no later then 10 minutes... leave the same way you came in.. oh and bring some chloraphorme in case you wake one...

Hahah, for sure. I knew it was a stupid question, but I had some suspicion that something subtle like a black light on for 5 minutes, wouldn't be enough to wake a plant. I guess it's impossible for the human eye to see, and the plant to stay asleep. Don't wake Danky!

Green lighting is the only way to work with the plant's in the dark period, don't ask how this work'sbut it does.but why would you want to look at your plants during lights of there the exact same has the lights on period.by interupting this period you can cause more damage than you will know.

Gotcha. I thought the green light was a joke. If I were to disrupt the plants, I'd only do it once or maybe twice. Only for extreme situations when I have terrible time constraints. Obviously I'd just change the light schedule otherwise. Well that's good to know, green light is the best option even though it's not recommended at all. Thanks guys (and girls?)!
