How can I distribute light evenly to my plants across a 10x10x8 area

hey guys Im trying to use a 400w horilux Mh light to veg plants in a pretty large area. basically I have 10 plants at the moment but they are all seeds so im just planning for the future. They are regulars so lets say I end up with ~5 plants to spread the light across. I want to grow these plants as big as possible within my space. I will add much more lights including cfl's and led's in the future.

I am only using this space for veg growth never flowering, and plants will be removed once they reach the desired size.

So you want to grow 5 plants in a 10x10x8 with a 400W... Iol. 5 plants in 3x3 a under that 400 would work much better. You'll need a minimum of 4 1000s to get good coverage over a 10x10x8.

Generaly accepted light coverage
400w= 3x3
600w=4×4
1000w=5×5

the 400watt is just a start, And do you know how many watts of cob leds I would need for 10x10?

Minimum, I would say. A lot of people aim for 40-50 watts/foot of good quality cob lighting. I use 32 X 50 watt cobs for my 9X5 bloom area and get great results and yields, but could most likely benefit from a couple more 4X50 watt frames
I'm running 900 watts of Citizen/Cree in a 4x8, and I'm averaging 2.5 lbs every time. I used to get the same weight off of a pair of 600s.

Yeah I have gotten 1650 and 1725 grams my last 2 run but I feel like with a little more perimeter lighting and experience (I definitely have A LOT to learn still :)) I could hit 2000 grams. I only have 20 months experience with the first 4 lost entirely due to... issues caused solely by me, myself, and I :/

One cheap thing you can do is to get a handful of those mirrors found on the back of (often bedroom) doors. I see them like 18 x 48 inches and they are great for leaning up against the wall in your grow room. Kick them out so the bottom on the floor is 6 inches or so from the wall. That'll help shoot the reflected light back up into the plant. I've found a good place to find the mirrors is at your larger thrift stores.

Good luck, BigSteve.
