Hey everyone.
i am going to do my first outdoor grow this summer. I am starting my research into outdoor specific stuff lol.
I think my plants will be planted in groups of 2 or 3, in random spots in the forest. I hope to find nice sunny areas in maybe a little clearing here and there in the bush.
The growing season here is from June to end of September, maybe first or second week October.(wouldnt count on it it rains like a mother$%^&. I am going to start my plants indoors under 24 hours of light. How large should i veg the plants, in general? I know it will differ a bit per strain.
Im not 100% on the strains i will grow yet, probably a bunch of different ones and see what ones do well this year. Im liking the look of stuff from Next Generation maybe.
In the beginning of june there is still a risk of freakin cold nite temperatures, but more than likely NO frost.
I am hoping to plant 15-20 plants total outside.
A link to a good outdoor grow guide would help too. Ive grown some decent grows indoors but have never tried any outside....i am excited for the big yields from outdoor plants. I average 2-3 oz a plant with 6 fem plants plus a couple autos in my x4x tent under 800W of light.
So ya. I am trying to find out how big i should veg the plants. 1+ pound plants would be a dream come true.......
Peace :weed:

There are many factors to consider when going from growing indoors to outdoors. First of all, it's best to simulate the same environment indoors as you will be putting the plants into when they're transplanted outdoors. Furthermore, it sounds as though your area is rather wet so you'll have to be extra cautious of things like mold and bud rot, not to mention the various pests that can ruin an outdoor crop. I suggest doing more research before beginning as it's better to be prepared, a small mistake can be the difference between a great yield or a ruined harvest. Good luck!

First if your going to guerilla grow you should have scouted your spots the year prior so you can watch the spots and look for change or any sign of them being visited. If you didn't prep last year for this year you probably really shouldnt do it as your now in the group of probably gonna get caught. thats said if you can veg your plants to 8 inches with 2 or 3 sets of nodes youd be giving them alot of good head start. make sure your not grouping them in the open. Make sure you study the areas natural vegetation so you can try to blend the plants in with natures grow as MJ sticks out from the sky pretty easy. You should have checked your light times in the spots you chose the year before to make sure you picked areas with longest light conditions. By now you should know the longest times of light in those spots for the year and the shortest light periods during the year. Make sure your spots didnt have shadowing during the day and that you have good water around or your hauling it in and increasing chances you get caught. Outdoor guerilla growing is something you must preplan and the idiot who just decides to go find a spot and plant at the same time is the fool who goes to prison.

Ive definitely scouted out the general areas where i want to put some plants. Its about 60 miles from town, in the straight-up wilderness. Mixed forest with maple, spruce, pine, birch as the main trees. I have camped the area for years and am very familiar with what goings-on in the area. I havent found and EXACT spots to put them, but im sure il find room for 20 plants in groups of 2 or 3.
They will definitely not be in danger of being found by humans, youd have to be on a expedition hike to stumble on them....and they should be done just in time for hunting season when there will possibly be people in the area....just worried about animals lol. TONS of rabbits, partridge, lynx, fox, deer, and raccoons in the area. I dont know if they are interested in cannabis or not LMAO.
The type of bush we have in my area is pretty thick and impenetrable for the average wandering hiker. You pretty much have to stick to a natural trail to get around anywhere. While trudging through the bush there are usually little spots that get quite a bit of sun for most of the day, but unless you were within 5 feet of a plant you'd never see it...even then maybe not.
The terrain has alot of small hills/mountains, rocky areas, alot of peat moss. The soil/ground in this bush area stays pretty well drained. decent soil, but ill dig and fill my own holes with my own mix. the ground is usually damp under the surface, but not soaked for long even after a very hard rain.
Pretty much the only thing im worried about is having the plants reach a decent size and finish flowering, the first couple/few weeks from transplant indoor to outdoor could have some cold nights which would make them grow slow. Not worried about insects too much, dont really have much problem with that in my garden, or on my tomato and pepper plants at camp last year. The animals might give me a problem. Were talking about the real bush here, suvivorman type of terrain....so no worry of people finding it.
Still doin my research...dont want to be out a few hundred bucks....
Still dont know how big to veg em....im thinking 12-18 inches....closer to 18 maybe
let me know your opinions.
Ive decided on 3 definite strains so far....Green Crack, Cinderella99 (for my GF) and TimeWarp...i have a Romulan Diesel from next gen in my indoor right now, its dank but takes up alot of lateral space, maybe good for outdoor .I really want a good right skunky stanky nasty dank ass stinky skunk plant too. Igfjdxgfjsxfghjatgj 138.jpg.My Reeferman Pink Kush, its 8 weeks and 4 days into flowering. Smells like intense wet soil with a touch of sweet. Gorgeous plant.

I will probably go with 18 inches for the photo plants and 6-10 inches for the autoflowers. Im going to dig a 10-15 gallon hole, i have this mesh fabric stuff (tons of it ) i will line the holes with. Im going to use Promix HP and some advanced nutrients granular fertilizer, and dolomite lime. Using my memory, and google earth, i think i have a few spots picked out. nice hillside(smalllll hillsides) in the middle of thick forest, south facing. Lots of raspberry bushes grow there. Should be a good location. definitely no people will come across them. Going to plant 15 Photo plants and 15 autoflowers. 5 strains of each, 3 plants of each strain, for a total of 30 plants.

Not sure if anyone pointed this out to you, but it wouldn't be safe to veg the plants under 24 hours of light, as they will begin to flower when you put them outside.

Also, you sound like myself in a lot of ways. The first year I grew outdoors I was quite ambitious and planted a lot of plants and it was more than I could handle. Just understand how much work 30 plants is going to be.

As big as possible really but if there bigger than a foot how do you plan to carry them back there? By the way you shouldn't transplant auto flowering plants they don't like it. Good luck and happy growing!

I generally veg to about 16' tall and 12' across. They finish at about 40' tall and yield several hundred pounds each. I often get a couple dozen cords of burnable firewood from each also.
Sometimes I have to use lopping shears to trim the 3' "popcorn" buds. My friends and I often have a harvest bon fire and for days afterward the birds and the animals just stagger around the forest with red eyes.

I'd veg until 3 months before the flip but that is if I really need to get some bud... it all depends on how fast the strain grows and the characteristics of it.... Indica, Sativa or hybrid?
