How are we doing?

Hey all!

My wife and I are starting or first grow in a long time, both of us are CA card holders.

Germinated a bunch of seeds we had saved this past year, and doing ok so far.

We work from home so baby-sitting is fun, as we've been growing the seedlings in the windows, and in front of the patio door. Haven't used any lights, so far, but I'm thinking about putting some cfl's on during the evening to keep em warm. They'll be going out in the garden in a couple of weeks, putting them in 3 gallon pots with all the good stuff.

Here's a few pics we have going, any advice is appreciated.

hey dr green. Those look nice and healthy. Mine look exactly like that. How old are they? Mine were put in the bag to germinate 2 weeks ago today.

And that plant in the second post looks very nice for it age. are you using lights?

Hey,

Last time I grew....jeez, back in Jersey many moons ago....

Thanks for the compliment, I'm trying my best....

My leaves get a bit saggy at night so I'm going to give em some cfl's till i go to bed, then back in the windows during the day....

I'm wondering if I'm not watering enough...

Damn. Those look very nice for not having any artificial light. Anytime I start plants in a window, with just sunlight through glass, they get stretchy on me. You're definitely doing something right, bud.

Thanks, I'm starting tonight with some cfl lights so hopefully I'll see some more growth.

what do you think about the leaves curling in the last pic?

They look good. That sagging happens to my babies as well. I noticed it more when i used to run my lights 24 hours a day for vegging then when i changed to an 18/6 cycle they did it less often throughout the day. I think they get tired of growing and need a daily nap. They look like they are resting to me.

Anyway welcome back to fine gardening, Kathy

How big should they be before I can put them outside for a few hours?

Sun is BRIGHT, it's only about 60 today...

I also live up high in the mountains, is this a good thing?
