How are my Blueberry babies? Need to top/prune? How and when? (PICS!!)

Hey there. These babies have been vegging for around 14 days now. They are Blueberry clones under a 400w mh, assorted grow mediums and nute feedings, blog here: http://needmodro.wordpress.com .

First, how are they doing? Click on each image to get close ups, there is a top-down and side view for each plant, sorry for the HID.

Second, I have read that this strain in-particular needs to be topped and pruned properly to get a good yield. I've looked online how to top, seems simple enough, but when do I do it? And how should I go about pruning them? etc...

blueberry loves to be topped and you can do it at any time at any node you like
I was under the impression you should only top the main "top". And I'm still not entirely sure how to "shape" them, espically given my space...

This is my first grow, and my space is somewhat limited. The biggest one is about 1ft tall right now and I estimate I can raise the light enough so they can grow another 1.5-2ft. So I'm thinking the more topping the better? Like top each main node now, then top the resulting ones in a week or 2, creating 4 tops per plant?

Am I over thinking it? lol.

Also, the one in the back right corner is significantly bigger than the others, nodes are further apart, bigger, and it looks like that bottom node is a damn second plant growing off the side, lol... should I do anything special with that one?

looking nice... i have 2 blueberry's going; topped and lst'd one and letting the other go natural to see the difference. as far as pruning... there's a lot of controversy over that. i am debating whether to do it myself.. some say it stunts the plant and i just went into 12/12 so i dont think ill do it this time around. honestly up to you...

Very nice, Blue's are my favourite balance of THC level and yield. Take it easy on the pruning if you do that and don't prune beyond 6 weeks or so veg so they have time to recover/fill-in before you flip to flowering. They tend to grow a lot of nodes and leaves so I prune them in the 5-6 week range to open them up and get more light down. I know there are camps here that will trash pruning but with this strain it works well, as long as you don't overdo it. I also LST'd them to open up the middle and let the shoots rise up. Super-cropped one by mistake (dropped a fan on it) and it has done well, somewhat larger/wider than the non-supercropped one. I decided not to top them but they do react well, have done that outdoors. No topping this round, may try it next round, these things produce well enough without it though.

Here are some pics of current grow, pic names are self-explanatory, showing before/after pruning at around 6 weeks, then progress to last Saturday, a week after flipping them to 12/12, hoping I don't run out of space in the cabinet and will likely have to LST them more to keep them in check. I moved them around a couple of times but in the latest pics the Blue's are on the far-left/far-right. The one in the middle is supposedly Pineapple Express I got from a buddy.

Excuse the quality of the early-on pics, didn't get proper lighting and my SLR camera out until recently but you'll get the picture, particularly of the "bad/no-no" pruning results - lmao

Awesome job homie! I would be careful on the nitrogen your feeding them because some of them are showing early signs of the CLAW (I believe) and it only gets worse.
Depends on how long/big you plan to veg, I usually top when I have about 3-8 lil branches (anticipating that I will remove some of the lower or thinner/weaker branches a at least a week before flower) like the ones u have, so that the lil branches have time to catch up to the top. I'd experiment with them, best way to learn is through experience.

You said you only have another 1.5 feet to go for space and they are already 1 foot tall. You need to do something, cause they are gonna double or in some cases triple in size and vouala you got yourself some cooked plants hitting the lights. Maybe lst'ing would be another option cause I don't think topping is gonna do enough. Another option is to switch to flower early, like right now. Good luck with whatever you do.
