This is my first time around. Those big lights are two 175 watt metal Halide. I have two four-foot flourescents for side lighting and a cfl just cause I had an extra one. That is a piece of sheet metal I am using on one side for a reflector. They are about 10-15 days old and are in 8 inch pots. It is bagseed so if any of you guys recognize the strain please let me know. First time posting pictures so hope they are ok. Let me know what you think, any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, I did a lot of reading on here before I began to put my plans into action. Actually I was hoping someone on here could tell me from experience if these lights were enough to go the entire grow and get a good yield. I realize hps are better for the flowering stage but some people report good yields with cfls and these are much better than those right? Also, what does it mean when some plants are much lighter color than others? I realize some bud is lighter but this is even occurring on the same plants. The bottom set of leaves are a darker color than the top sets. Normal or the signs of some kind of difficiency?

Does anyone have any experience with flowering with metal halides with about the same wattage as mine (2 x 175 watt)? If they are not going to get me a good yield I guess I need to get an hps in the mail headed this way. I have come to far now to not get any rewards in the end. Thanks.

Well my room mate has been out of the country for the last couple months so I kind of just hijacked his room to start. He will be getting back soon so my setup will be moved into my closet. I should have plenty room. Those things better get bigger! Good question. I guess no one has ever flowered with metal Halide?

ive never heard any one use a mh for flowering
but i use my hps for veg and flower if your going to use your mh for flowering add some of your cfls so that you will have some red spectrum too
you will have some buds im surewhat they will turn out like im unsure

Yeah I did. I didn't put the cover back on just because I thought it might make them hotter. But I assure you it is safe, they are all connected securely. I am an electrician.

Here is some pictures showing their progress. They are 15 days from sprout here. Is this about the size they should be? I have been wondering if it is about time to do another transplant, they are in 8 inch pots now. What do you guys think?

Cinci, thanks for the input. It's probably because of the time released fertilizer that I used (the kind you sprinkle on top of the soil) instead of the liquid kind that everyone recommends. During flowering I am planning on using a liquid blooming fertilizer that I hope will make up for this rookie mistake. What about the pots? How big can they get before these 8 inch pots become too small?

15 days is to early to feed at wait till at least 3 weeks to feed. for the pots its hard to tell just dont leave them too long id say soon though

Looks like you have a decent set-up there. In order for floro's to be effective they have to be within inches, yours are not, so IMHO they are just pulling unnecessary power. If i had those MH lights i would scrap the tubes and cfl (maybe use them for sprouting/clones). I would recommend a grow space with 4 walls for the MHs and paint them white or use mylar to get the most out of those lights, you will also need to add some ventilation. Just my 2cents though.

Good luck!:peace:

Thanks Toke, you all are very helpful and believe me I will take your advice. Here is a picture of a leaf of my biggest plant. Recently the leaves on it have been turning an unhealthy dark and kind of withering. They are not smooth and shiny like the other plants. It has not effected the growth of the plant but I am wondering if I should be concerned and if so what to check for. Any ideas?

+rep for you guys
