I've never seen the original description (by "Hempy" @ OverGro?) but I've got a rough idea- I'm about to set up 1 or 2 with my DWC grow.
Anyway, very simple. Get a plastic 2and1/2 gal. bucket and drill one hole 2 inches up the side. Hole size can be 1/2" to 1". The bottom serves as a reservoir. Originally a mix of perlite/vermic was used, but I recently saw someone say coco was better in a side-by-side. Didn't dry out as fast.
Essentially, the plant is grown in the medium and fed like a hydro. I plan to put lava rock in the reservoir, along with a 1" airstone to keep it fresh and attractive. I have a Maple Leaf Indica (fem) to start with, and a choice of NL, Aur.Indica, and Snowberry seedlings to choose from for another.

No airstone required. 1 inch hole is too big. 1/2 inch is the largest. Remember, the hole is only for an overflow. You don't want it so large that your media or roots start coming out of it.

Keep the pH at 6.2. Use an overflow pan underneath the bucket. It helps for checking the pH.

The standard is 3 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite. The container should be no larger than 3 Gal.

The system is designed to be simple. Adding air stones and all of that defeats the purpose. You might as well do a DWC at that point.

How can you know that you want a Hempy Bucket, but not know what it is? It's a bucket with a hole. You really need instructions for that?

I grow in hempys mainly.
I have used containers as small as 16oz cups to 5 gallon buckets. Just make sure your drain hole is about 2 inches from the bottom.
I use straight perlite for the medium. I have never measured ph in hempys though.
