Hose controller for drip system?

Making a new veg drip tray and when I went to get some connectors I noticed hose controllers, has anyone used one? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mister-Landscaper-1-Program-Digital-Hose-End-Timer/3614802

Seems about the same cost as a repeat cycle controller and I would only need one pump. My veg res circulates the nutrient solution (so no air stone) and has a valve that I can turn on to send the solution to the drip head. My thought is replace the valve with a hose controller and let it go to town? lowest on time is 1 minute so may lose a little water on the small cups but could just reduce the gph for the trip head. Thoughts?
