So i have a couple problems with my small grow cabinet (heat, reflectivity) and its not like i couldnt just section off the room, it's a spare so..

Either way im trying to keep it localized to this cabinet and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

there is a gap in the door about 3/4 inch wide.

The bottom of the door does not come over the bottom frame which causes this, and i guess when they made the cabinet they used a long push to close latch that keeps it shut.

Any ideas how to keep the light in?

only thing i could really come up with was to hot glue mylar to the where the door closes but that will be sloppy...

Thanks Happy tokin:leaf:

I make way with reflective duct repair tape and a film or tarp material that is black on one side and white on the other. Use the white side to reflect inside and the black on the outside to block light. Some people call it panda film or orca film because its black n white. Potentially you could build the whole room with this.

Panda is the way, but if its small go duck tape it up, but make it look pro, ensure your grow place is light free, to prevent herming later

the way I gather it, it is your door you use to enter and exit and to tend to your plants? That when you close the door the door gets hung up on the wood on the bottom and makes the door get stuck and not shut all the way which causes light to escape? Is this right?

If so just look at the door and see how much needs to be taken off. If it is not much just got up some course sand paper and a sanding block and start sanding. Check every now and then with the door because you don't want to get to much out and have light leak out again. Not a difficult solution nor problem.

If your door just has light leaks around it you can get some molding or some type of trim and go into the room and put up the strips around the door (the actual door) so when you close it it sits flush with the wall and no light escapes. If done this many times. Just think what needs to be done and make a plan about it. I've used caulking to act as a gasket. Place a bead of caulking through the area that has light leaking out just enough to cover the distance of the crack. Too much and then it holds the door out and light leaks out elsewhere around the door and you have to scrap off caulking and start over, but its no biggie as well.

They make foam stuff for air conditioners to fill gaps and stuff. Not sure if that will work or not.

When I had my cab, I bought magnetic things from lowes, it comes with a plate you screw to your door and a magnetic thing you screw to the door frame and when you close the door, the magnet hits the metal plate thus keeping it tightly closed. I use that and foam for my cab. I had to use 3 magnet things though but I had a big cab and the door was too heavy for one magnet
