Home Depot picked up bigger CFL...

As I'm sure CFL producers are gearing towards bettering grow room efficiency, HD jumped on for folks... as I frequent regularly and check bulb sales, today I was interested to discover a 300W equivalent (68w usage) 2700k bulb for 14.95. 4200 lumens compared to the 2600 output via 42w 150w equivalents that many are using for flowering. But no shit... this thing is HUGE. For those with the 150w equivalent bulbs that know how huge those are...add a couple inches. Literally almost 6" length, probably bout 10" total with ballast. So, check em out....i'm curious to see these put to work with what some folks are getting from 150w'ers.

Cliffnotes: Home Depot has 300w equivalent CFL's for flowering

4200 Lumens, 300w equivalent (68w used), 2700k soft white, 14.95

Yes, any normal 120v socket (same as any other bulb).

As far as which ones, no clue if they are only in certain ones but they literally just started at my HD within this week.

I went yesterday but was only looking for lights to veg with, Ill have to check it out closer.

I was paying like 9 dollars for 2 CFLs equivalent to 100w. I went to walmart and paid 83cents for each one.

I'm adding those to my shopping list. I have to rework my plans a bit now. I'm not going to use cool tubes and HPS anymore. 50gal Barrel of Green CFL grow here I come!

Thanks for the info. I have seen the 150W equivalents around but was not sure about them because they were switchable from 75W to 125W to 150W or something like that and cost an arm and a leg. I have been eyeing a 300W CFL security light and thinking about it for my veg box.

Yeah, it's 10" total from light to ballast. And for the one looking at the 150w equivalent- those are 3-ways. Avoid those and get the soft white 150w only. two or three of those and a couple of these 300w'ers and presto.

And btw... its f'n bright. Can't look in or ya get sun spots.

And for the one looking at the 150w equivalent- those are 3-ways.
-The ones he is specifically looking at ARE 3-Way bulbs, but right next to them, they sell the exact same thing, the non-3way (regular) version.

If you bought one, throw up a shot of the barcode so we caN ORDER at the store if out of stock please sir. Thanks
-The UPC code is, "7 62148 09060 1", enjoy...

Not very hot Mr. Pacific. I do have a fan blowing across my tubs, but i can put my hand one centimeter away and it is not hot, i can even touch the bulb and it doesnt burn me. when i turn off the fan i can feel the heat rising off of this bulb and the two mounted below it but it is still not very much. if you are in a totally enclosed space you might have heat issues with 4 of these, but even then a fan would take care of it in my opinion.
it would be sweet to have 3 more of these, but they are 68 watts so it will start to add up. im already thinking of adding a 150 or 250 hps when i have some dough for it.
those super output cfl fixtures someone posted above do look like they have the potential for greatness, i think one of them has 10,000 lumens. i just want to know how hot they get.
