Home Depot or Lowes?

Which place do you prefer if you have to go to one.

I know many of us support smaller garden stores and hydro shops. Which is fine.

But if you have to go to a mega store which one do you prefer and why?

I like home depot better, but lately I noticed that Lowes has prettier cashiers.

Also I noticed that the garden section at Lowes had a better selection of vegetable seedlings.

From my experience Lowes has a better selection of timers and ducting for the growing world. Home depot has a good selection for fittings and different things you would need for plumbing associated with water filters and what not. But, I think every physical store carries items that suit their customers needs more or less.

That's surprising. In California most Home Depot's have a Lowes directly across the street. Kinda chicken shit of Lowes to do that.

I find, that Home Depot is more orientated towards the contractor, and Lowes is a little more geared towards the woman in the house the feminine side...
I'd drive 2-3 miles out of the way to go to my favorite HD... The one you know where everything is at, and you've been there a couple of hundred times...
There was a HD closer, however, in that one it was more like Lowes, where I had to walk through the carpet, fixtures, and more just to find a 1/2" coupling.

That would indicate that either Home Depot personally had that done, or that Lowe's had some form of control over that.

Not that I disagree. I just think that it's more than likely that the two are actually owned by a single parent company.

No hydro stores around here but we do have the above and walmart.
I combine all of them for different times of the year. HomoDepot put shit away or sends it to a warehouse if out of season.
Lowes is big and just moves it's inventory outside.
Now is the time of the year to stock up.

I have and will use them both but since Home Depot is 11 miles from me and Lowes is around 25 miles, most of the time I use Home Depot because of distance.

I enjoy my RIGID brand 12 gallon 5 HP shopvac, it's lasted longer than the equivalent sized SHOPVAC's that I've bought in years past at Lowes and I've went thru 2 of them that came from Lowes.

Something that I've always wondered about Home Depot and Lowes, it's odd that Home Depot has only been around since 1978 and Lowes has been around since 1946. Lowes had one hell of a jump start on Home Depot 32 years before Home Depot came along, but Lowes only has 1,750 stores compared to Home Depot's 2,248 stores. That's almost 500 stores difference ( 498 ) . It would seem like with the revenue generation that Home Depot has, their prices would be noticeably different than Lowes but their prices are about tit-for-tat on most items.

It would be nice to see my favorite soil stocked at either one. I'm just taking a guess that if Lowes or Home Depot carried Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil (1.5 cubic foot size) it would be around $10 per bag instead of the $15 per bag price I pay at the grow store.

Neither...Menard's blows away HD/Lowes on garden supplies and electrical.

Unfortunately, they are only in about 10 states.

lol I work outside there. Get free pots and 60% off on soil, yup soil. I got it made as a grower, and a guy that that loves plants and trees. I like lowes my self, as I shop at both, but lowes is alway first

And while we're at it, I'm damn near ready to boycott Home Depot over those annoying cameras every 10 feet ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong

I get it, we're on camera. Thanks for the reminder, as if I didn't know that I'm on camera at every department store I go into. So why insult me and every customer that walks in by treating us all like thieves. I used to just ignore it, but now I just give the camera a big middle finger. ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong ding-dong

Supporting the smaller garden/hydro stores is fine? It's a must. Under no circumstance does anyone need to go to a mega store, none. There is always a hydro/garden store somewhere nearby. Even if it is an hour or so drive give them the business. If you shop at any of the mega stores just as if you use a mega monster bank instead of a credit union, you are supporting the enemy.
If you are actually in Cali you don't need to go to Lowes to see pretty girls.
