HLG550 vs Gavita? Anyone with experience with either/both?

So how does someone go about cooling these HLG boards and keeping a tent below 80? Same inline fans I use to cool my hps?
if the light from 600W of HPS is what your tent needs you can get that same amount of light with 400W of LED, which will create less heat. You'll also want to run higher temperatures with LED so theat offsets your cooling needs

As far as an hlg600 giving you 3lbs per 4x4 imo that is extremely unlikely
yeah that would be 85 g/SF and over 2 g/W which i dont want to say is unattainable but youd have to have every single thing work for you. long veg time+ massive training/supercropping/defol + the right strain done exactly perfectly by a master grower... you might get close to that

average joe in a 4x4 it would be pretty unlikely

I think it depends a lot on how many plants you have in the room.
If you have a low number in a room, they can transpire as much as they want without running into very moist air.
If you have a room full of girls they are going to sweat about a gallon per square meter a day.

Interesting. Seen none of that running low 70's for temps.
And I've seen major problems and struggling plants under 80. Goes to show that what works for one should not be assumed to work for another; still, the majority here seem to concur on higher temps being needful. Regardless, it's certainly something that people new to LEDs should consider and watch out for.

Low transperation for the amount of photosynthesis...... Lots of deficiencies. 81 or so seems to be really nice. Extra Mag is always helpful as well.
Didn't GML mention lack of frost at higher temps with the LED's? Saying he wished he would have ran lower temps?

Lack of frost was from overwatering and too high RH. High 70s and low 80s humidity is not good. It's proven running lower RH increases frost. I imagine the opposite would be true in an opposing situation.

The HPS side has been 50-60% vs 75-85%.

Gotcha this current run I'm in the low to mid 70's and the RH stays in the 50-60% range. So i guess basically I've been running hps temps and humidity and feeding lower than usual but more often and the plants are rocking it.

I have one strain that shrugs off the low temps. The rest have a rough time. Again, no one person's experience is definitive, but this is a common observation from a number of growers, so it's worth noting.
Lower temps often times make for a colder root system. Then that has whole set of problems that come with that. Pretty sure thats what you are getting at.

Not to mention he could run into trouble with mold having an RH that high, that late into flowering. All good though because he will know for next time what he needs to do, to better dial in his grow on the next run. And folk watching get to see how to avoid the pitfalls so it is a win/win for everyone.

Low temps, from my experience, = metabolic slowdown = slower rate of growth.

I have not met a canna plant that liked low temps, but I am sure they probably exist:lol:.

I've been running the HLG ELITE 650-700w & 1000w HPS in the same room for going on 3 grows now if anyone has a question I may be able to help.
