HLG vs. HGL (Perm Edition)

What is this here @hybridway2 ? If that's under a HLG 550 then the light should be at around 60% at 30" height from the canopy, otherwise that's too much light for a plant that size.

The purple stems is coming from the light intensity. It's too much light. Causing light stress. If you back the light off some. New growth will have more green to the stem. And as far as the stem flexibility. Has to do with them hardening off. The harder the stem the better the part of the cambian layer can do what it needs to do. Same with most fruiting plants.

I think the HLG is producing a healthier plant. The leaves are probably smaller because they are catching adequate light. I noticed that when I switched from my Vipar blurple boards to COBs, nodes got tighter, stems got harder, and leaves got smaller. I think the HGL looks bigger and more spindly because it isn’t getting as much PPFD. I think the HLG needs fed more because of the energy from the light causing faster metabolism, and the reason the leaves got bigger when you switched to flower is because they weren’t receiving as much light.

That's an awful lot of thinking on a post from the past :eyesmoke:

Yeah, I caught it late. Nevertheless, that is my observation.
Glad I saw this.
the hgl vs hlg thread I was referring to was this one.

Purple stems = too much light? How did you arrive at that connection? Ive got a super bright cob rig in a 2x4.i dont see purple petioles. If i did i'd suspect P availability issue. Heres a bodhi strain under 400+w of 3500 v29s

He has been offline for a while now. Big perm is also offline.

Purple stems happen for a variety of reasons. Fertilizers imbalance is one reason. Another can be that the purple stems are caused by intense light.
It is a protection mechanism. I could post links from edu's on the topic.

Ah Big P is alive and well, just not on here.

He got caught up in the big con is all. That's what con artists do, drag others in and have them convinced its all roses.

He has since washed his hands of HGL.

Hey @Olive Drab Green , I was just a few days ago thinking I hadn't seen you floating about on here for a while.
Nice to see you.
sad he burned so many bridges along the way though

So glad I missed that drama. But, yeah, I had a lot of drama of my own.
