Why would you have flickering effects? You’re assuming that it works like pwm, it’s not it’s a digital potentiometer, it’s the equivalent of using a resistance dimming knob, not pwm
Correct. The difference is that PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) uses pulses to regulate output to a certain level. It literally turns on and off the source very rapidly. A potentiometer on the other hand (whether physical or a digital IC) is a glorified voltage divider. The output is divided by resistance, and so is operating continuously, just at a lesser voltage output. It does not pulse like PWM.
