HLG-600h Drivers voltage adjustment

Right so I have had an issue with trying to figure out if you can use 36b drivers on 23v led strips for a while now.

During my searching I have seen a few people asking this question over the years on different threads here.

I can say I have a concrete answer now for anyone interested. I contacted a couple of suppliers on alibaba to get a detailed explanation and clarified it with more than one supplier to be sure.

The 36b driver datasheet states it has a constant current region of 18-36v.

This means the driver will automatically detect the voltage of the strips you connect and drive down the voltage to the required amount.

In doing so it will switch to constant current Mode.

The current will be kept at 16.7a and if you connect 23v leds you now have 16.7a x 23v total 384w

So you lose 216w but if you already have these drivers it may be worth just using them which was my issue as I didn’t want to buy 10 more drivers when I already had these.

You now have 16.7a to split in a parallel circuit the same way you would normally.

Hope this may be of help to some people
