Yeah nothing can compare to Floyd in my lifetime anyway. The one-two punch from Dennis and Floyd had areas here over 500 year flood levels. I've seen the damage from high winds but the flooding we had here was incredible.

Luckily it looks like this one will miss us inland dwellers mostly. Personally i credit RIU mojo.... :)

Had to love how Wilson and Kingston looked under all that water....NOT. Family out on the other side of Winterville were getting the fetid water runoff from those areas. Blech.

No shit! Sorry to say I don't remember either one of them. And I thought that Andrew and Charlie were bad. Honestly, we were one of the fortunate we didn't sustain any damage-none. But, our neighbors were wiped out.

Still mojo-ing.

Oh yeah it was something else. Our area was really hard hit. One thing that surprised me was we kept power all but about 8 hours the entire time. Talk about good luck with our hobbies... :)

Quick search for images turns up then President Clinton when he visited.

I would only worry about hurricanes if I lived in a shitty house. Been through 4 or 5 good ones and it's not bad

i'm southern new england about 40 miles inland. it's funny about the predictions. national weather sources usually predict less severe weather and local weathermen usually predict doom. i suspect it has something to do with ratings. however, exaggerations aside, i have much more confidence in local weather people in general. they have a better track record imo. i'm going to the beach tomorrow in southern new hampshire and the water temperature is predicted to be 80 degrees tomorrow. for those of you not familiar with the northeast, that is WAY warmer than usual. jaw dropping. this is my only concern since there is supposedly some low pressure front from the west that has a very slim chance of clipping the storm in such a way to draw it further inland, and warm weather feeds hurricanes. i have maybe a 10% chance at best of getting anything serious. definately nothing to panic over.

I would have to disagree. A CAT 2 and below without flooding you're statement probably has merit but hurricanes spawn tornadoes and tornadoes destroy million dollar homes. The good news is this one should have little impact except for those near the coast.

Dude... my bad. I accidently did the rain dance the other day. I know how bad even a weak hurricane can be. Your plants will be in my prayers.

Well like I've said, I've lived through a bunch of nasty hurricanes living on the florida coast. The worst thats happened to my home was some boards from my dock got pried off from waves but thats about it.

Thats good man. Were you there during Andrew in the early 90's? That was a serious storm.

PS. I'm old. Ugh....

The one thing I can't stand about my local weather channels is that for every hurricane/ tropical storm they always have it projected to boomerang and go right over my house. I'm sure it does wonders for their ratings though (also stores benefit because everyone goes out and buys a bunch of unnecessary shit). You'll be alright though, at worst you might experience a few bad storms but it wont be as horrific as they make it seem.
