Not sure why the summit here is called Oyster Dome. Maybe you need to be in a plane?. Brutal hike straight up. one month here and my muscle memory is starting to kick in snd my knees don’t hurt anymore. 8 mile hike. Quintessential PNW Nov rain hike. I know there’s a blue sky underneath it all.

there’s no parking lot or road to take you here, 4 miles of gorgeous switchbacks.

Most everything 50% off
Went to REI today and they are closed, all day: like something about Black Friday online and scan this code. I was shocked. I don’t like shopping online. I ended up at Ace hardware a few stores down for my toe warmers. Thank goodness they had them. I think it was dumb
For them to be closed today. I was ready to buy a few items now I might not.

Because stuff happens:
Murphy’s Laws of Backpacking

My hiking into the "wilderness" days are done but I still do keep space blankets/chem lights/550 cord in the car.
Blankets come in varying qualities. Some for more than one use. Likewise chem lights, ultra bright ones are the ones for ground to air signaling.
Always room for blanket and light on your PFD as well, j/s.

I've got this brand, Some of the really cheap ones are pretty delicate.

Refreshed the kit for 2024, refilled the whiskey and hash.
Replaced asprin, ibuprofin, Celox, lighters.

Whiskey is a recipe for problems. Tripping on tree roots and dehydration come to mind. I have never taken alcohol any hike I have ever done. It’s dangerous out here with all those tree roots!!
I tripped going on a trail run last week and luckily didn’t get hurt. Thankfully the ground was so soft from all the saturating rain we have had.
I would hate to hear you got hurt.IMG_0301.jpeg
It’s cool to see my Bellingham Wa pix at the top of the page because the hike I did yesterday here in New Hampshire kinda reminds me of Chuckanut Bay .

That's 21/2 oz, not a major buzz. It just relaxes those tired muscles for the lunch break.

Looks like Mt Chocura in the snow and the Sandwich range to the west.
Sandwich notch is a nice hiking area, trail along the top ridge, historic areas, couple waterfalls.
