thanks for the answer. jw is there any other ways to control the hight beside LST or topping? also, anyone know how to LST a topped plant, as in which branch or branches to tie? sorry for the stupid questions like i said i have never done this before. thanks again

I don't LST I top and super crop.
Basically you top as normal and as your buds grow you pinch and bend the plant over. I have a pic of one branch I did on my last harvest.
That is a red diesel.
First pic shows total height.. it was about 2 feet.

I don't consider it LST.. but I generally pull my plant over in it's pot as you can see it kinda sideways in both pic 1 and 2.. some people tie the plant over.. I plant it in the hydrotron on an angle if you know what I mean..

and pic 3 is super cropping. Or my attempt at aggressively shaping the plant.
You can see how the top cola still grew.. but grew sideways. all that keeps the height down.

Super cropping is a technique I'm still learning about..but seems to work well.

hope some of that helps.

thanks for the help i need it. now, I read somewhere that you can prune 50% of the leaves on the plant and that will stop it from growing for a while. have you heard anything about this method?

it's called defoliation.
I haven't tried it personally. If you search out here you will find it's a subject that gets debated regularly. Something about the plant re-dispersing growth hormones or something on one side, and "solar panels for the plant" guys on the other..
There are a few articles that have been published (maybe they were just grow journals.. I get stoned alot :) on the subject, and I am tempted to think there's something to it.. but haven't had the heart to try it out yet.

ok so I have 6 plants and 2 are about 2.5ft tall and the rest are about 1.5ft tall. i just want them all about even so i dont have lighting probs. should i super crop, or LST or should i try the defoliation thing? what do you guys think

pics?

easier to tell you what your options are if we can see what you're working with.

no worries.. They look pretty good... some - a little lanky, but nothing too bad.

what light are you using on them now?
they are still in veg? or have you already switched them over to 12/12?

i have a 400w hps on them now and they are still in veg. i was just going to ask if i should start flowering i bought them from a sd collective (i am a medical patient) about a month ago.

Are you going to clone them?

If you are cloning them, then top them and use the top as a clone. if you aren't, I can only suggest supercropping them so the canopy stays at the same height - as I don't LST.. looks too much like work to me.
I do think you are going to want to either chop them back, or flower them soon. When a plant flips to flower it will usually double or triple in height. so if you put in a plant that's 12".. it'll be about 3 feet when done.
sounds great - but indoor lighting will only penetrate the foliage 3-4 feet at best.. so you really don't want them much bigger for indoor.

One thing I will tell you about growing.. everyone does it a little different, you need to try things out for yourself to see how it works for you in your set up. What works for me, may not work in your set up, and vice versa.

sorry, getting late, and I'm losing focus :) Friday the 13th is on... I would be glad to help where I can if you want it.. let me know what you want to find out about and we can "talk" about it.

i was not going to clone them. can you take a clone from a clone? wouldnt that be bad somehow? i think i will flower them soon but i have to flush them first right. also i had a prob with pm and just srayed them with serande like 5 days ago and then agian last night and im pretty sure that its working but should i wait to flower because i just sprayed them or does it matter. also if i want to start flowering really soon should i even bother supercropping?

thanks for all the help cowell enjoy the movie

Yes, you can clone from clones... that's basically what most of us do.
You don't need to flush them until the end. There's no nute burn... no need to flush. I use full veg nutes for the first 2 weeks of flower.. then I switch to transition to flower for a week and then bloom nutes for the next 3 weeks and flush for the last week. Last 2 days (before I chop) I throw the plants in a different room that keeps them in the dark for 48 hours before I chop.
Light degrades THC. So every night cycle the plant is conditioned to produce THC to act as a natural defense to light. Plants adapt quickly to environmental changes, but usually it takes 3 days for a plant to show any changes to it's environment. If you over nute.. you will start to see burn at about day 3 for example. So if you throw the plant in the dark.. it has all it's thc stored - ready to take on the day that doesn't come.. the plant will just produce thc preparing for the next morning... so basically you up the potency of your pot. Some people depute it.. but after trying both ways, I know the same plant (clones of the same plant) grown in the same room will knock you on your ass if I put it in the dark.. but may just get you high if I leave it in the room until chop.
You can manipulate your plants all through flower.. but I wouldn't recommend doing it past week 4 unless you run into a situation where the main cola is growing too close to the light and is burning. (have had to do that a few times).
You CAN flower too early.. but if you are showing pre-flowers you're good to go. The down side to vegging too long is our plant will outgrow your room. Bigger plants do produce more bud, but you have to try and keep it within the range where your light is effective or the bottom of your plant will just be fluffy popcorn bud, not worth the time to trim it. I'd say you are good to go anytime you want.
If you pinch the plant at the growing tips you will find the growth up stalls and they'll start to bush out. I'd try that on the shorter plants, and you could top the bigger plants.

Spacing is pretty important too. You can't just cram plants under a light and expect them to all grow like monsters. They need enough room to grow, and not have to compete for light or they will stretch to beat the band in flower- that effects yield, as the plant puts too much energy into growing to compete for light, when if it had enough light that was close enough, it would put that energy into producing bigger buds.
All shit you learn pretty quick as a grower. I totally recommend trying as many different things for yourself, you will find that you will do some things that work well for you that don't work at all for me.

also check out youtube. Honestly.. if you go there and search "marijuana cloning".. you will have a million videos that will walk you through how to do it... just watch until you feel comfortable trying it for your first time.. once you do it once.. you'll never worry about it again.. it's pretty easy.

Movie was good... seen it before.

Have to work tonight, but if you have any questions, pm me if you want.

I control height by growing in buckets on drip irrigation and only growing SOG clones 7 inches tall. I have a sativa heavy strain that triples when you put it into flower.
