Abstract

Seven studies using experimental and naturalistic methods reveal that upper-class individuals behave more unethically than lower-class individuals. In studies 1 and 2, upper-class individuals were more likely to break the law while driving, relative to lower-class individuals. In follow-up laboratory studies, upper-class individuals were more likely to exhibit unethical decision-making tendencies (study 3), take valued goods from others (study 4), lie in a negotiation (study 5), cheat to increase their chances of winning a prize (study 6), and endorse unethical behavior at work (study 7) than were lower-class individuals. Mediator and moderator data demonstrated that upper-class individuals’ unethical tendencies are accounted for, in part, by their more favorable attitudes toward greed.

In the US we officially stopped owning people in 1863.

let me rephrase it then. who rents out the politicians for the terms they have been elected?

this is the biggest reason i feel we should not attempt to enforce laws with money. I feel public service is a far more fitting punishment.

They tried the same thing with race only a few months back. But its hard as sheeple to see beyond the media's blinders.

I was charged with aggravated assault, grand theft, conspiracy, fugitive from justice, possession of stolen property, possession with intent to distribute and a few other small things..

I got a continuance for 5 years, which has since been expunged. I am clean as a whistle. ( Bought my first assault rifle the other day. )

Thats what money can buy.

It really isn't a level of "unethical" as far as class, purpose and/or intent, just how much of the shit you can do with large or unlimited funding. The desire is the same in all who wish to do so, just not the jack to back it up. This proves to be an excellent barrier to keep what I am sure would be some off the wall shit, if all who wished, had the funding to make it so.

I'm rejecting your assumption that ALL politicians are in someone's pocket. Politician's are just like other humans, good, bad and indifferent. I'm saying we should be careful about absolutes and our assumptions. That was my point.

smh.....

Somebody that is corrupt and unethical is far more likely to succeed as a politician though. They are all human, but sleazy people tend to gravitate towards politics (among other things).
