High pH reaking HAVOC

Can someone please give me an assessment I can't keep my pH below 8.0 and the pH down that I ordered won't bee here until Fri. My filtered tap mater comes out of the faucet at 348 ppm and the pH is 7.24. The pot with two plants in the pot are clones that I took from a hobby plant grown in soil. They rooted with no cloning additive or gel, but they don't look good. But I think it is from the high pH, the nuets I use are Canna Aqua Veg since I am in the veg cycle almost three weeks out from gremination.

i think i read somewhere, vinegar will lower your ph some...also, your water is shitty, i hope you let it sit overnight at least...

Use distilled water. Don't get it at Wal Mart (won't cure it, but it will stabilize the pH better)
You can get pH down at your local pet store (by the aquarium stuff)
I read some place about soaking your LECA for 24 hours in a pH balanced water solution. did you do that with your clay.
Is your clay from a reputable dealer? some people that make LECA make lower quality product, the good stuff has a high
clay content. and the lower grade stuff has more filler. like organic material. It goes through a kilm so you would think the organic material
gets burnt away, but I guess the organic compounds change and stay in the LECA.

I rinsed the rocks but I didn't soak them the brand is Easy Green. The store I got them from seems to be a reputable outfit. I grow outside in soil pretty well and to be honest from all I have read on this website I tend to think that it is the water. From what I have researched here 348ppm and 8.0 pH water is pretty shitty, it almost make me wonder why I drink it. Keep in mind that this water comes out of a two stage under the sink filter. Is it true that using R/O water would make the plants more prone to disease? How much does a R/O system cost? When will the spending end? lol

Thats the problem I had with my tap water.
300ppm and a pH of 8.2
every day I would have to bring the pH down.
I switched to Distilled water and now my pH takes 3 days to go from
5.6 (to) 6.5

My PH goes from 5.6 to 6.5 in 2 days. I just keep at the ph down and my plants look good. Things have been this way for me for over 6 months. So I think its ok.

I use Canna Aqua Veg A+B and the recommended pH range is 5.2-6.2.

its def. your water and ph.

RO systems usually cost around 100-200 dollars.. coming out mine is about 5.5 and 1ppm. would work great with the canna because it is ph buffered. that is probably why you have such a hard time changing the ph. nutes like general hydro are not ph buffered and can be altered a tad easier.

that being said as a short term fix you can either add lemon/lime juice or WHITE vinegar to naturally lower the ph. i would go get at least a single stage RO so you can start off at about 15ppms. it will make your plants healthier because you can have ALL nutrients and not a bunch of trace minerals which may or may not be balanced to your needs, then nutes on top. i hope that makes sense lol

anyways RO water does not make your babies more prone to pest and disease. some say that it is easier for algae to grow because all the chemicals like floride and chlorine are removed but if you keep your shit clean and light free you will have no worries.

hope this helped

forgot to mention first and foremost you need to get some distilled water or RO water at your local grocer if they have it, ph balance it, and flush em out really well the next couple of days. this will help em bounce back in the next few days till you get the supplies you need. def. get a RO tho, its worth it and you can use it to filter water you drink which is much healthier

Is it true that an R/O system wastes 3gallons to 1 filtered gallon? If so that may present a problem since I pay for municipal water, is it going to run up my water bill or will it be a minimal increase?

I use a water filtration system (water softener) for my water and when i add all my nutes together my PH. is around 6.5 so i add a tad bit of PH. down.... Im using General hydro nutes. I would suggest buying some distiled water from a store if you do not have the luxury of owning a water softner. this will not fix your problem but will help control a little better, also the nutes you are using are buffered general hydro is not making general hydro a little easier to work with

yes its true but if you are concerned about water usage you could just use the waste water, its usually 15-25ppms on my system anway and is way better than the crap that comes from the city

I don't see the problem here. If you got PH up and down and is very necessary for hydro you add water then nutes then test ph. add water if ph is to high add ph down
if water is to alkline. Be sure to use hydroponic nutes witch are usually ph balanced.
My tap water is 275PPM. I add nutes then adjust ph as ness. I don't let my tap water sit out for 24 hours as other people post. MYTH. My plants grow very well. Keep rez
temp low, say 65% to 72%. Lots of oxengen (airstones) I do DWC. If you follow these simple steps your golden. Oh yea Hygrozime is a must for healthy DWC. Good Luck to Ya.

I use Canna Aqua nuets and they recommend not using H2o2 with there products. What is Hygrozime and what does it do? Do I mix it with my nuets?

I thought that a buffered nuets would help make it easier to control the pH. I have been looking at GH's Flora Series with Flora Micro for hard water. Its cheaper than Canna and GH addresses my particular water conditions. I thought Canna was supposed to be good with hard water.
