High guy's!Im wanting more lumens for my upcoming Church grow.Iam using regular GE spirals rite now.I recently found out that lumens do not compund or add up.This is true.Even though I have 8 100 watt bulbs its still ony 1750 lumens.NOT THAT MUCH.I have seen that High Performance CFL'S have very good STATS!Iam wanting to buy a 250 watt bulb of both sprectrums(6500 and 2700K).I'm hopeing someone on here has some positive info on these types of lights?I want them bad the 125 watts are about 9000 lumens and the 250 watts are 19000 lumens. Is it really a HAVE TO to have the 250 watters or will the 125's work well? Thanks!:blsmoke:

I think the 40 to 50 something watts are more efficient per watt. You can put these so much closer thus combined will be more efficient then a single equal 60 watt or higher bulb.

Does anyone have a source for this info? I'm not trying to debate it, I'm just one to like to read this stuff on my own. I always assumed if you had 5 bulbs, each rated for 1000 lumen output, if focused in the same spot , you'd have 5000 lumen in that spot. Is that incorrect?

Not correct. If you have 8 100 watt bulbs at 1700 lumens. You have 1700 hundred lumens 8 times! They do not compound like the logical mind would think.1700 hundred lumens just spread out.You cant add them together.Thats why its so IMPORTANT to have high lumen bulbs then multiply if you want to.

Thanks dude, that's probably been one of the best answered questions I've ever had on here. Informative, to the point, and answered my question without a doubt. Thanks man! That's going to help me out more than you know. and +rep for being so god damn awesome.

REALLY, are you sure its a Feliz bulb? I always heard they worked great, WTF, Crap, I found this awesome deal on a Feliz 250 Watt CFL with reflector and I was wondering why in the hell they are so cheap, well apparently this must be the reason. Maybe Feliz has been getting complaints about there 250 watters not producing so they are lowering the price, DAM, I was really excited about finding that deal but you know what they say, when something is too good to be true, it usually is. Has anyone else had the same results/issues with Feliz CFL's particularly the 250 Watt?

Lumens are additive. The lumen unit is defined by ANSI as an additive quantity.

Think about it for a second. If lumens aren't additive, then the luminous flux of a panel of LEDs would only be equal to the flux of one of the LEDs from the panel.
