Hiding the grow room

I'm about to move out of my parent's house finally to my own place. Right now I'm in the process of getting a bank's approval on a mortgage on either one of two houses. Both are about the same size (just at or right above 2,000 sq. ft.) with three good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I am not having any roommates because I earn enough from my day job for my expenses so I want to turn one of the rooms into a grow room. Here's my only dilema that I have not found any likely solution for, that I cannot think of an explanation of what happened to the third bedroom which will be the grow room. I don't think it would be wise to just refuse any family members or friends from going in there while they check out my new house for the first. time. This is especially troublesome when it comes to my stepcousin who allowed me to grow in his house for a year but i have no intentions of telling him about my grow op in my house. What do you all usually tell people who want to see behind closes doors to your garden?

Friend of mine had a "storage" room, with lots of boxes and furniture piled up inside. The biggest boxes were actually enclosed grow boxes hiding in plain sight amongst all the clutter.

He usually kept the door locked, and when asked said it was to keep it locked up while he was out of the house cuz he also kept his records/files in there.

what's funny about that is that is the same thing my cousin and i did at his house to keep my uncle who's his dad from going in there. except we told him it was expensive dj equipment becuase he was a dj years back. so if i were to use this excuse again my cousin would see right threw it and probably kick the door in. i know my options are extremely limited but just pondering for some new ideas.

Well you could put a false wall into the bedroom with some small crawl through door which is blocked by some furniture or boxes. Build this before they come to see your new house. Then when they come over to see it, that bedroom will just be a smaller and look more like a den or small office room. Remember, when building such a room that you have to have ventilation for the plants so you have to hide air inlets and outlets also.

If your cousin would kick your door down than he's got some problems. He should be respecting your privacy. If you don't want to show him the room he should respect that. I would throw a good lock on the room and just tell people its a storage area or an office or something. they should respect your wishes. Another idea would be to put up a false wall with some sheetrock and put a door on that false wall. this way you can have people in the actual room but when they come to the locked false wall door you can just tell them its a closet or something where you keep some valuables. they can see and enter the room but your actual grow will be behind that wall.

What I have said is almost identical. My family and friends think that I am renting the room as storage for a friend who is currently in between moving, he is living at his mother's house until he has decorated and refurbished his house, so they think it will be a long time thing.

What I did was show my family and friends around the flat before the grow room was put in. I also have a good lock and pad lock on the door, with bolts that cannot be unscrewed, so you would literally have to kick the door down to find out what's inside.

As extra precaution, the boxes that contained all my grow equipment, plus the furniture I had in that room is piled up around the tent, I just had to take my time to make it look real.

However my landlord thinks my friend who works away rents the room, and the padlock is for his privacy while he is away. Which he is fine with.

Don't worry so much, if you keep your gob shut and don't let every man and his dog know your growing weed you should be fine. The only people who know that I grow are my friends who helped me set up, which is a mutual respect as I know they grow also. Even my BEST friends do not know I grow, simply because they don't need to know. They know I get hold of good weed and that's about it (and that eliminates questions about smell).

It isn't hard as long as you can keep a secret. At the end of the day if you are getting a mortgage...you OWN the house, you have the right to do what you wish behind closed doors.

Good luck.
