Hidden Closet Bubbler CFL/HPS grow

8/5/09 - I put some nice seeds in a coffee cup with paper towels and waited two days.

8/7/09 - Four of the seeds had started to grow but one broke when I checked on them. I then transplanted them into a 1 1/2 inch hydro cups and carfully set them with hydroton. The cups where then placed into a tray I had made out of a jiffypod 16 plant place mat. if cut out the cups can fit halfway into the tray snugly. the tray is placed into a rubbermaid top that fits the res.
My light is a 42w CFL and a 75w HPS.
Checked the ph of the water set it to 5.7. Turned on the pump and waited.

8/8/09 - All three of the seeds have significant growth almost an inch of the root is showing out of the bottom of the cup of one. I added 1/4 tsp of Prop-O-Gator 0-3-2 by Hollands Secret brand nutes which I will be using throughout the grow. I have far underestimated how well a simple bubbleponics system works even without the nutes. As for anyone who would like pictures they will be up within a week a new charger for my camera has been ordered. Anyone with experience with my product I hope you will share any thoughs or feelings about it with me.

Sounds good man are you going to be using the whole line of Holland's secret nutes? I use a 70 watt HPS and 2 6500°K 23 watt CFL's in my veg box and was always curious what those lights could do in flowering. This will be cool to see dude, I'm pulling up a chair

- So today there are leaves sprouting. I took some of the hydroton off last night in a sudden panic that the seeds wouldnt find their way through. I'll add more as they grow. As for the question yes the whole brand Tom. The best deal at the hydro shop was a case of the 3 pack with all 3 parts. 6 of each for $60 I also got the Prop-O-Gator and Super B+, Bud Start and Ton O Bud is next on the list.

You remember that camera I was talking about. So maybe it took a little longer than expected. I have to say for the first time doing DWC I have to say I'm liking how fast plants mature in a hydro setup.

Last night I scrubed out the entire res with 3%H2O2 to get rid of that nasty browness I have gotten recently with the roots. I believe that the water was too warm well into the 80's sometimes.
I'm treating that now with a frozen liter soda bottle every 12 hours.
I also added 5ml/G of 3%H2O2. If its a problem I haven't noticed any symptoms. This morning the plants looked pretty perkey and full of life. And after work the roots look amazingly healty compared to the dark brown spot that I removed the day before. It wasn't rot rot yet but if I had let the problem go untreated the dissease would have taken my plants over.
I must say if the H2O2 pans out I will have a new little secret.


I'm waiting patiently to find the sex of these plants. If I don't come out with a girl I will say I have come out with a years worth of experience in just the last month compared to any of my soil grows.

They are both girls, I feel like a kid at Christmas.
I love the res on this camera. I'm thinking I might get another one in a couple of months just to take even closer pics of trics.
