hi all....can i run a 600w hps in my closet without exhuast? with a fan blowing on the light?

no...thermostat on floor... light foot half above that..says 95 now..pots on floor....raise light???/ fan blowin on high
Unless you have a fanblowing your hot air out pulling cold air in passively your just gonna fry your seedlings.
A fan inside does nothing but move air around unless you have it in a hole blowing it somewhere else

your right ,,hot as hell...have to leave door open..its a hood...should I dim the light??? jus so I can grow...has three adjustments....thx for helping me

hell yeah it's a life changer if you do it right, get a cheap inline fan and some duct to vent that thing. Grab a carbon filter to, if u want to keep the smell down. I personally get a combo fan/carbon filter for around 80 or 90 US dollars on Amazon. Check out Breeders Boutique if you need beans, their prices are the lowest and the smoke is top quality. I've been running their gear for a year now, and just reupped on some more beans, they are having a 50% off special right now i think. Check them out though, the guys who run it are on RIU all the time, and are super helpful. ty ty...yes inline fan to vent that bad boy...its a freakin beast....should I turn setting down? or use 600mh bulb..jus need to grow....inline fan from window would cool room??? have to get it thru door !! lol do I have to exhaust??? my girl has a caebon filter air purifier...would that help??

sorry I haven't read any of the other replies so I might've answered questions already answered .. Honestly i don't know if you'll be able to cool it without some sort of fan sucking the exhaust out somewhere .. A door ,window,ceiling the only way r I've seen it work without that on these forums at least is a setup in a basement somewhere where its borderline freezing with no heat in the basement those lights out out aaalllloooot of heat . You could dim the light in assuming you've got one like me that goes 50% 75% or 100% if you dim the light to fifty you could still grow 2 or 3 decent plants but what's the point of having a 600 watter if your only running it halfway .. Also look into the lumen output on your bulb someone corrct me if I'm wrong i briefly researched this a week or so ago but MH bulbs run hotter because of a lower lumen output tha. HPS bulbs because basically the energy has to be distributed somehow ether through light or heat HPS bulbs have higher a lumen output therefore run cooler . But only slightly... Why do you not want to exhaust the light ? If that is absolutely not an option IDE recomend selling your 600 and learning about LEDS . I can't help you in that department i know absolutely nothing about them . I'm going to look into them for my sidelighting soon though. It seems to be the new age .. Good luck hope i could help

You can get by with that temp, but keep an eye on it, it can get hot fast! Yeah use the MH for veg, and HPS for flower, some people use their MH for the first 2 weeks of flower, they say it keeps the plant from stretching as much. As far as seeds go, I use a cheap T8 florescent light, the roots seem to like that light, I let them stay under the T8 till they are ready to be transplanted out of the germination tray.
Can you grow healthy plants without air? No. You need fresh air coming in to the room and you have to exhaust the hot smelly air out through a carbon filter. Proper ventilation is one of the biggest challenges in setting up a grow. If you don't dial in the ventilation, you will never grow anything but sick sad plants.

should try to get the temp downto around 75 if u can. And keep an eye on humidity, if it gets to high when you have nice dense buds you run into mold, and u cant smoke moldy bud. This is one of the reasons ventilation is so important.
