Hey, im currently attempting my first grow inside but i have my plant on the window sill as my source of light through out the day and when the sun sets i move my plant under a normal desk type lamp.

I was wondering if there was anyway to get the spaces between my nodes closer by growing on a window sill as they are quite far apart?

Your plant is not getting enough light, the desk lamp isnt going to do anything for the plant because the light it gives off is all wrong and too weak. If you get better lighting you plant will stay smaller and the nodes closer. Youll want maybe at least 50 watts of CFLs ( compact fluoro lamps), the energy saving bulbs and keep the bulbs around 2 inches from the plant.

Using sunlight is fine (assuming your plant is getting enough of it), just replace your incandescent bulb with the CFL valuablevariable was talking about.

Plants grow outside as you know (stupid fact of the day) so if its in direct sunlight your plant will grow as well. But it seems like its stretching so if the bulb your using isnt the sole source of the problem it seems like the sunlight isnt enough ither.

NO. They do make special blue spaectrum bulbs for growing. Any incandescent bulb will put out too much heat. You won't be able to get it close enough to do any good. VV
